Anybody know where to buy just this metal latch? I'd like to avoid buying the entire assembly if possible, which is $35 dollars, but will if that is the only way to get it.

I'll bet a good welder could either fix that, or just cut a new piece of metal to replace it.....

we don't see those break very often, what happened ?

Here it is a few dollars cheaper http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=87204

I might have one at home, I broke the top t-handle off 2 of mine a few years ago, I think I kept the assembly, if you don't mind waiting a day or two for me to try to find it and then $5. to ship it, your welcome to it,

both mine broke and dealer charged $40 some a piece.

most online stores should have them for $20 or so a piece for the entire assembly. probably better to replace them anyway

That be awesome Scott. Let me know if you find it and i'll paypal you money for it. Thanks!

To answer your question, the first time i took the boat out i was going full speed and one of the cleanout plug blew out. Didn't damage anything but that latch thankfully.

You may also want to look into the plug locks offered by a couple of our member vendors. It would be cheaper than broken latches and a possible lost plug.

sorry but it appears you're about six months to late, it must have gone out with last garage cleaning (why am I keeping this broken stuff around?!?!).\(I'm not a pack rat, I'm not a pack rat!)(don't want to be on hoarders, don't want to be on hoarders!)

I did unfortunately find the two broken T-handles, why do I still have those ???

$25. for a new one is an easy lesson to learn, I would suggest you buy a pair of cobra locks, it's cheap insurance, if your hatch would have broken or you lost the plug it could have easily been hundreds of dollars,

Usually they are only sold as an entire unit. But.....don't let this keep the boat on your trailer. Hopefully there is another latch on another hatch on your boat that you can move to the clean out hatch in order to get back on the water.

I got mine from Yamaha sports plaza. Cam.

I blew a plug 3 weeks ago and broke both locks. Got them at Overtons. The ski locker has the same lock.

I would buy the latch with the lock, put it on the ski locker, and move the ski locker one to replace the broken one...

Just wondering...would it be covered under the warranty? Obviously it wouldn't be worth the time and hassle, but if the boat was there anyway getting the oil changed and winterized it would be worth asking.

I doubt they would cover it, they would probably say your plug blew because of user error and any problems caused are yours,

If your taking your boat in just for the first inspection/service I'd be ok with that but there is no need to winterize as we have members in Canada that don't and don't suffer any ill effects,

Changing your oil is very easy and a good way to become more familiar with your boat, there's even a FAQ with pictures for it,

just to clarify my statement above about winterization, I think you should follow the procedures in your owners manual and fog your engines, I just don't think doing anything outside what the manual advises is needed and is simple enough you can do it yourself.
