Custom SwimDeck Ballast Bag project

So lets not over complicate things. No bends just straight walls. We all know that the bags will bulge to take up the extra space. I just need some general numbers ( because I am not at my boat right now ) and I can get this going.

One important thing to consider - on the port side/under wet storage cushion - is the ONLY inlet of fresh air into the engine bay. The STRBD side is closed by fan assembly.

I'm pretty sure I starved the engines (of air) at least one time (with bags), but didn't realize it at the time.

I like the idea! would want to see it.
I considered putting vents in the wet compartments - on the top sides of stern/hull like in many inboards, but don't want to overdo it or compromise soundproofing.

Just use some 3" PVC and put it behind the bag before filling.

Albeit I may end up "modifying" the fan intake on the STRBD side...
And we will primarily surf "regular" anyway.

I will be at my boat tomorrow and hopefully removing the shrink wrap to take measurements god willing. . . . .

Hopefully you have better luck with the guys at wakemakers than I did, cause honestly I found them to be useless, arrogant, condescending assholes.

I had planned on falling back to the guys at Barefoot International (FatSac) to cut out the middle man.

Wakemakers just funnels the order to them and adds cost.

But I honestly don't care WHO does it, I just want a single stepped bag.

LOL. I know exactly what you mean. I think I must have spent way in excess of 3k there last year and between three different "advisors" (or as they call themselves "customer advocates") I dealt with only one was helpful. Her name was Jenny. Very nice and responsive, and she knew the parts.

Got some dimension off of my boat and I will post up bag sizes tomorrow. The dimensions suggest it will be roughly 800 pounds.....I think. I will have to reverify. I will submit for quote tomorrow.

Nice. I was basically just going to take the dimensions of the (2) 400lb bags together, shorten the width, increase the height. I was also going to put (3) drains across the bottom, one fill/one vent across the top.

I'd be in for one of these for sure. How different would the measurements be on my 2013 212x? I can measure mine this weekend if that would help. A "one size fits most" option would be great, for us and for whoever is making it.

Looks great. I'll double check this weekend, but on first look, that would fit nicely on a 2013 21ft swimdeck as well.

I like it but would consider making it just a bit wider. 1000lbs would eliminate the need for a 200lb bag on the floor of the boat. ; )

Yes handles, I want something to run my ropes or ratchet straps through to help hold down the bag.

For me I don't want more then 800 pounds on my transom, this bag also allows for easy passage thru, any wider would be in the way.

Should be delivered with my pump and harness today, actually.

Between this, wheels/tires, bow roller, surf stuff and a dozen other things being discussed recently I feel like a dog chasing a squirrel. Can’t figure out what to focus on or how to prioritize!
