Drone Fishing

That's a good idea!
I've heard some guys that fished off the piers in Panama City would pay dudes in kayaks like $10 to take their bait out a couple hundred yards or whatever.

Way cool! Next time I'll bet they bring a cart of some sort along! LOL

@DieselCamel if you can figure out the rigging we will give it a shot in Bimini ;)

I too am wondering how hey got the line to release from the quad copter once the bait was in position. It looked like a break away system that would release once a fish took the bait. I'd want to be sure before I put my $1000+ 3 pound drone over water to try and catch a 10+ pound fish.

If you look closely you can see there is a 2nd like tied to the main fishing line that pulls it up and carries it. Once you catch something you just have to "reel" in the drone in tandem with the main line.
The second line looks over 100 ft in length so it gives you some leeway.
Still risky, specially if the drone operator can't move the drone fast enough if the fish snap it really hard, but looks like it can be pulled off.

Very cool !
Rubber band for a break-away release ?
There might be approx 100' of line between the bait and the rubber band... Like kite fishing, sorta

Super cool! Some states have already banned drones for hunting, I wonder if they'll do the same for fishing. Obviously it can work really well LOL.
