Has anyone taken the river from Greenville NC. to washington NC? I did it on my ski last year and it was beautiful. By ski it was about 45 minutes to and hour one way. I'm sure it would be a little longer on the boat. Once we get comfortable with our boat we want to make the run,.. (hopefully towards the end of the summer).

I have always wondered about that trip. So many of the rivers here in NC are not very navigable and that was my main question about that leg of the river.

@Julian I think you are talking about taking the intracoastal up to Norfolk aren;t you? 2 ways to get there, one being up the Dismal Swamp Canal which would be a cool trip.

@waterboy.. the river in that area has a higher level of boat traffic from the east side of Greenville to Little Washington NC. The river starts out kinda narrow but the closer you get to little Washington it keeps getting wider and wider. There are houses on that part of the river that have docks and boats just like lakes. Most of the ride is woods and there is tons of wild life. As long as the new boat checks out we are going to do the run before the end of the season. However... If you get on the Tar river and go west... ehh.. I wouldn't go far....

And i have ringer that would go.. He grew up on that river.. Maybe we can get something going later in the season. My boat has been sitting on an indoor rack for the last 2 years before I bought it. I want to make sure it has no issues before I run it.
