JetBoatPilot's New Surf Tech, Thrust Vector Wake

After lowering I felt that the spray for surfers and slow speed was worse. This was the first time we pulled tubers and had no spray, but that’s not my primary goal.

That being said I was able to get a tremendous wave behind our 195 with the TVW and gantlin FatSac on the surf side. Our next outing will be in a few weeks. I’m considering going to the 2019 setting or going higher. Going to mull over the options for the next few days before I turn some bolts.

It should also be noted for @JetBoatPilot that I’m not going lower than what is recommended for the gauges. When I installed the new deflector it was way higher than the gauge called for. I am just merely lowering it to what they are recommending based off of manufacturer guidance.

So was the spray worse or was there no spray?

Sounds like spray at feet on surf speeds was worse but no spray at tubing speeds

If that is the case then the deflection angle is a bit too high. I'd try adjusting down deflection about 1.5 turns (where the head of the bolt moves towards the transom) if the V2 gauge was used.

Tubers had no spray, but the spray just behind the boat at surf speeds was a bit much. Went surfing with my son on the same board and he was getting spray in his face most the ride.

What is v1 was used and getting spray at feet on surfer?

Err what if... I'd have to look again this weekend when out but we have 230 and it seemed like got some spray at feet.

I believe the issue is that it's set to high or not enough ballast as part of fin, while up is out of the water and its spraying off the outside fin into wake.

I'm more of asking questions I know at 10.5-11 when kids tubing (4-6yr olds) it has some spray at feet. I cant remember if their was issue when we had weight in back to surf.

When you add sufficient ballast the water rushing around the side of the boat is able to travel over the top of the spray coming off the fins. Then when you add the JetWash deflector it gets even better.

If you're seeing issues with spray at surf speeds and no ballast I still think the settings.may not be exact. Our boat has little to no spray at surf speed without ballast.

@JetBoatPilot it's not spray in the tubers face it's a side stream of water right in what would be surf area...

I need more time to tweak my 230. I had 800 on back and 800 in surf locker and my wake was small.. need to reduce that in locker I think.

It's usually 4 on boat when surfing 1 adult 3 small kids.

Yes, increase weight on lower platform, decrease centerline.

Will, I watched your latest install video on YouTube.

You say the new height gauge will work for all models for quite some years back. My nozzle looks nothing like that new boat you are working on, is that really the case? They are that close?

When you ship out the new center deflector for the ladder, will a new height gauge be dropped in there as well? Do I need to request that center deflector, or do you have a way to track who got shipped what?

Thanks again.

I would strongly caution anyone attempting to lower the settings below the prescribed gauge setting on the V1 gauge. If you're running the V2 gauge it is permissible to adjust downward deflection up to 1.5 rotations of the bolt head (where the bolt head moves towards the transom). This basically gets you back to the V1 height gauge setting.

Anything lower than that and you potentially run the risk of over stressing the bolts, which we've seen bent before. This does not happen often but when it does they have to be replaced.

@biffdotorg the new wider 24 footer deflector will make the top shelf area of the surf wave much cleaner and will make for more push. We're still testing but will send out as soon as we're confident that the design is perfect.

@JetBoatPilot Any update on the new deflector? I’m getting more spray than expected and will also try 1.5 rotations on bolt.

Kind of reminds me of a mini ASP.
