For those of you familiar with lake gaston where is a good place to put in from the nc side coming from raleigh... I think we may make our first trip to lake gaston over memorial day weekend and see how it is. Never been there so looking to be steered in the right direction!

Never been sorry. But let me know what you think of it if you do make it. Might like to try it out myself!

We looked at going to the Kerr side. But haven't made it yet. We were going to launch close to Henderson. Satterwhite Point I believe. Still plan in making it up there just no firm date yet.. Please share your experiences.

When we went to Gaston, we put in at the ramp where we had rented a cabin (Stonehouse Timber Lodge). We have friends on Lake Gaston...nice lake...but busy as it has tons of property with slips on the water.

Maybe a holiday weekend isn't the time to try a new lake... but falls is so narrow in spots we don't like it on holidays... maybe kerr is the best way to go.. we will see this week..

We will also be going to Kerr during the week next week and going to coast this week..We hope by going on a weekday it want be as crowded

Shannon I though u guys were going to the mountains..

Hey Mike, Plans got changed around a bit. July will be heading home to WNC..

Kerr seems large enough to get out of the way... but we have never been there on a holiday..
Been going to Kerr the past few years Memorial Day weekend and it is never crowded. We usually spend most of our time in the camp sites finger close to the cove we stay in.

Camping at Kerr is the reason we have a boat! So excited for this weekend!

Does anybody know any realtors on Kerr or the bugs island side. Looking for a house big enough for a family reunion end of July. Sleeping at least 12 people. If you go to Kerr and see any rental houses please let me know.
