Hey Guys...

Heading over from GA to experience the wonders of Lake Martin next week. My friends have built this lake up so much it better be sunny every day and crystal clear blue Caribbean waters when I get there LOL.

I'll be over near the Auburn side, Dadeville area off HWY 49, in a house on the lake we are renting for the week.

If anyone is out and wants to get together let me know and I'll see if my family and I can meet up at some place.

Here's to vacation and chillin with a big fat cold one :).

ps.. I'll be in a black 2014 242LS with grey bimini and a white JB.net flag flying off the wake tower.

We will be out of town, but that is our home lake. Make sure to have a pizza at Chucks. They have music all in the evenings and it is a fun place to eat on the water. Raft up at Chimney Rock for awhile, make sure to make a stop by goat island.

I have missed a lot for sure, but if it is your first time on the lake these are must dos.

Keep beer in cup while at the rock. That is a popular hangout for the patrol.

The pizza at Chuck's is awesome! We get down there a few times a year and usually try to have a gathering there towards the end of summer. Chimney rock is fun, but too crowded for us most of the time... The lake is plenty big to find some quiet water.

how many boats can the dock handle? :D

@thcobb1...They have music every night at Chuck's? and that's at a Marina right? Thanks for the chimney rock and goat island heads up. Heard about those places and they are on the list.

Wish we could boat over to Niffer's but we will drive over there for dinner one night.

DNR Patrols pretty nasty on Martin? I never seen them on West Point in GA.. but I try and be good with the drinks while out anyway. But, hey, thats why I taught the wife to drive the boat.. heheheh

@Bill D ... I cant wait. Chucks sounds like a hit. Cant wait to boat somewhere for dinner and music. Awesome!

@blacksapphirez .. LOL I'm not sure yet. I hope I can get mine under cover while I'm there.

The water cops are usually out around the most popular areas like Chimney Rock. We've never had any trouble from them, even when we were anchored near the rock. I think they're mainly there looking for the lake fools that pop up around the holidays. Chucks is a marina with a fuel dock and small boat store for ice/beer/sunscreen etc... But, there are not a ton of spots at the dock and it can get busy around the popular eating times. We've never had a problem, but it's been full while we were eating before. It's a really great lake and there is a ton to explore. The water is DEEP, so make sure you have a few hundred feet of anchor line or have the end tied off to the boat before you throw it over! Lol

Check out Chuck's on facebook. They add who is playing what night and times. If there is rain they will update if they are playing. There is plenty of room to dock on the front to the right of the gas dock. Or you can ease around the the left and park and the launch and walk across the parking lot.

Copper grill will come get you from the marina at stillwater again they have bands this weekend. Check FB.

X2 on having a long rope. 100ft is not enough.

Awesome guys!!

I'm sooooo ready for this vacation. We usually day trip on the boat so this will be a blessing to come back to the house, dock, nap, get a refill, or whatever then head back out.

Esp looking forward to a few good sunset cruises and an early morning boat ride..

Thx again guys!

@flyingnugget I hope you had a good trip before the monsoon comes to town!

@Bill D... Hey Bud, We are still here. We are in the Smith's Landing area.

Well we've had a couple of good days but the rest have been more challenging. We are making the best of it though.
Got out to Chucks on Sunday and visited Chimney Rock (didnt jump lol). Got a nice sunset cruise Monday night. Rest of the time we've been tubing and swimming between rain showers..lol

We did try to make a run back out to Chimney rock yesterday afternoon for a jump, but didn't make it because of the rain.

I think today will be a wash... Just my luck : )

Bummer. Just unlucky with the weather this week. At least you got out some and got to enjoy Chucks. We haven't made the jump from Chimney Rock yet either, but it's fun to watch. At least with the boat on a lift, you can jump on and go when you get a decent patch of sky.

Thats what we've been doing... it stops raining and then check the radar and boom, we're off... Tomorrow night may be a good time for another sunset cruise and Friday looks to be good for our last full day. We will be up early and go hard all day.

Hell, kids are outside swimming and playing on the floats now. It's just a good steady rain with no lighting.

Only bad thing this week is, I fell into the lake the other day getting the boat ready for the trip and had my iphone with me...It's DOA. Using my old iphone 5 i had as a possible gift to my son. It's mine now... Now my wife just came up to me and hour ago from the dock and said her phone is now property of Lake Martin. It was in between towels and fell out and sunk to the bottom... We are not doing well with iphones this week.

Sorry - I had to laugh at your bad luck with the phones. Been there, done that, got that t-shirt.

@blackhawkpilot ... I tell ya what brother, at that point I just had to laugh and pour her and me a strong one.... it was par for the course for the week...lol o_O

Strong ones are a good way to end the day after you've dunked two phones in the water.

We are having a Alabama jetboaters meetup at Lake Martin in September. We do not have the weekend dates finalized but it will be any weekend of 9/9 thru 9/23. I'm hoping we can solidify the dates soon so we can book one of the cabins we are looking at. Anyone is more than welcome to come and there are many nice cabins or even hotels on the water with swimming pools to rent from. Prices typically range from $200-600+ a night during that time of year and how big of a house you want to rent.

For those that have never been, Lake Martin is a beautiful, large lake with crystal clear water. There are restaurants and places of interest along the lake with many coves to pull into and relax.

Here's a video from our meetup last year. We are hoping to have a larger turnout this year so ya'll are welcome in neighboring states!

Here are some pics. I swear the water changes colors from blues and greens!
