But the Mantus seems to be the anchor of choice by the majority of the sail boat cruising world. I've seen a number of crew swap out their other anchors in favor of the Mantus.
is my favorite anchor because of the fast gripI believe anchoring is more of an art than a science. No anchor is perfect in all conditions. But the Mantus seems to be the anchor of choice by the majority of the sail boat cruising world. I've seen a number of crew swap out their other anchors in favor of the Mantus.
I've considered buying a Mantus but right now, in my boating and bottom conditions, the Richter 25# anchor is working for me - its just a bit heavy to haul up.
the 8 pounds Mantus fits mu anchor lookerI suspect that Mantus has a heavily incetivized marketing program that does a great job of placing their product where we will see it.
That said I do believe it is a great anchor. I was able to use Glen's in Bimini when we used it to anchor another boat this year. At the time we were both anchored with lightweight fluke style anchors that fit in our anchor lockers. The Mantus set quickly and held perfectly but so had my Fortress and whatever Glen was using.
If Mantus made an easy fold version that would easily hang in my anchor locker I would consider purchasing their heavier anchor to replace my Fortress. But for now having a 4 pound anchor that fits in the anchor locker, sets the first time every time on every lake I have tried and has only had to be reset once in Bimini is working well for me.
