Greetings fellow boat lovers. I was able to finally pull the plug on this Yamaha 242 Limited S after many years of wanting a boat. As a new boat owner, Im finding a ton of great information on this forum and hope to find Much more. Stand by... I have a plethora of questions coming...hahaBoat and Jeep.jpg

glad to have you on board, make sure your first trip out is on a calm day without much expectations other than to learn how to handle it, save the friends and family for the next trip,

be sure to look at the FAQ tab at the top of the page for lots of great tips

You might want to consider changing the terms you use now that you are a boat owner (congratulations by the way). If you are pulling the plug on this boat....be sure it is out of the water, or your insurance is up to date! :winkingthumbsup"

It's a great idea to bring only few people when taking it out the first time as suggested, but since doing some of these things alone require practice and skill, bring a friend or spouse along, if they are the helpful, cooperative, do as you are told unless you have a better idea and ask before changing direction, kind of person.

A second set of hands at the ramp while docking is very helpful.

If boating for the very first time it would be helpful to take along someone with some boating experience, or perhaps gain a bit of supervised exposure. Going fast is very easy, the trick is going slow, docking and anchoring.

My recommendation for first time out, as you return to the trailer, is to dock the boat and then walk it in to the trailer with ropes. Driving it on its not as easy. I'm vicariously excited for you, there's been a boat in my household since I was 5 until 15, then bought one at 22 and have had one since. It's hard to not grin when the boat is at full speed on flat Waters. Enjoy!!! Don't sweat the small stuff. Each scuff is a reminder of how much you have used the boat.

Welcome from a fellow Michigander! Are you going to be on the inland lakes or the Great Lakes?

Middle Straits primarily but we want to take it Downtown for the fireworks. I see your on Grosse Isle? Have you had your 242 on Erie yet? How did it handle?

Haven't taken delivery of it yet but I will post as soon as I do. I am thinking about making a run to Cedar Point this summer with a few other families and boats. I will let you know how things go if/when we do it.
