Just bought a 242x and I am not sure if the dealer knows what they are doing, so I have a few questions.

1. Does the dealer hook up the ballast bags? Can they hook them up wrong?
2. The boat does come with an anchor correct? I don't have an anchor or line in the front
3. Where does the table leg get stored? Is it just under a seat? I cannot find mine, I am guessing the dealer didn't leave it with the boat.

  1. No idea but they should be hooked up. I imagine this is done at the plant and not at a dealership. It's possible they did it wrong though. Connext can also have its share of issues but we need more info. What are your ballasts doing when you fill/empty them that makes you think something is wrong? One member recently had a bad ballast controller on his 242X https://jetboaters.net/threads/first-ballast-fill-for-16-242x-how.9648/#post-200744
  2. I don't think any of the boats come with an anchor or anchor line. You have to usually work that into your deal. Notice it says "Dedicated Anchor and Rope Locker" but that doesn't mean it comes equipped. Did you not save anything from your 192?
  3. If you're not seeing it in any of the compartments then they forgot to include the table leg. It comes standard on the 242X. I think they usually toss that stuff in the head compartment on showcase videos I've seen.

My boat (242 Limited SE) did not come with an anchor or fire extinguisher. I got my dealer to supply both as a part of the deal. They didn't let until I pressed them on it. For 70K,they need to step up to the plate! They they also threw in a 4 to 5 pin trailer adapter. The table leg should be in the head storage area wrapped in bubble wrap. Good luck!

The problem is you pay allot for dealer prep. ...they should do this prior to delivery. My dealer was the same way!

LOL, no Anchor? I guess I assumed they came with an anchor. A fire extinguisher is another good point, I am not sure if I have one damn!

Just a bit of history on this buy, I own a 2015 sx192, realized it was too small, I was looking for a used 242x when I found my boat at a dealer for 62500 so I grabbed it. I have not had it in the water and neither has the dealer, this is straight from the factory and sat on their lot this summer.

I have two anchors from my previous boat, a medium box anchor and a digger anchor (my favorite). I also have a fire extinguisher on my old boat, I could remove it and move it to my new boat....

I love that Yamaha puts the "fire extinguisher inside" sticker on the rear port storage yet these boats don't come equipped with them lol. It's ok though because 99% of the time it's just some crappy cheap Kidde unit they would try to include. Might as well run without one than trust that turd :D.

I would just remove the stuff from your old boat and use it for the new one.

Mine came with an fire extinguisher mounted under the rear port seat. But there was also a sticker on the storage on the port side under the windshield. The dealer installed the fire extinguisher

I also thought all Yamaha's come with an anchor and line. (at least they told me they did)

My dealer installed two fire extinguishers (one in the helm and one under port cabin seat) and included the anchor and yamaha life jacket kit. First aid kit also included. Only thing missing for me was flares. I have a great dealer.

Dealer prep is a total rip off. I had to make them clean the inside of my boat. .it was filthy. The anchor light at the top of the tower was installed backwards. Then the salesman didn't know how to put the Bimini on or collapse the tower! After all that I think I shamed them into an anchor, anchor chain, rope, fire extinguisher, and a 4 to 5 pin adapter, Now, asher they failed to complete some warranty work, I can't get them to call me back and live up to their word. I am about a day or 2 from calling Yamaha corporate! I love the boat. ...not real impressed with service after the sale!

@captras, that really sucks, you bought their highest end series and they treat you like that. I am sure that is a rare occurrence as most dealers aren't like that.

This issue I had is the Yamaha place I bought the boat from mostly sells motorcycles, not huge on boats.

Lastly, I've been on other forums for cars (cadillac) and when someone complains about the dealers, the representative posts and ensures them all will be well. To bad we don't have someone from Yamaha reading this forum posting in an official capacity.

Yamaha reads the forum, but they don't post at all.

But don't hesitate to call Yamaha corporate if you think they need to get involved. https://jetboaters.net/faq/how-do-i-get-a-hold-of-yamaha-corporate.69/

None of our boats come with: Anchor/Line, Batteries, Fire extinguishers, life jackets, flares, etc. Some of this is understandable....they don't want to put batteries in them in case they don't sell for a year....same with fire extinguishers/flares etc.

Mine did come with 2 batteries!
