the round knob of the left side of the radio is your volume control, turn it clockwise to increase volume. ;)

If that is a JBL, than most likely the connector for speaker wire harness, or any other connector for that matter.
Cutting all wires off and re-soldering every wire for hard connection solved all problems with my JBL 142.whatever the model (Prospec something makes/sells them).

Before you get too deep, try disconnecting the remotes at the radio. They are just modular connectors that unclip.

When was the last time it worked?
I would suspect either a loose connectio at back
Or maybe it has mute button or function that was chosen by accident
Also just to confirm you don't have an amp or PA system hooked in

^that's right. Also, just wiggle the connectors, if it comes on/off you know what it is.

Anyone know which wire or clip is to disconnect the remote

Here is a pic

The black connector labeled remote control, far left side of picture next to the red and white jacks.

Thanks guys I didn see it should have read the labels there was a lot going on at the time. We need a Homer Simpson doh! Emoji for when I'm a idiot

We have a few emojis that would work....how do I know....cuz I've had to use them! :banghead::facepalm::eggonface:

Be sure to let us know what the problem was....so others can learn!

Yeah I was my phone on the water so really didn't bother to look the same way I didn't see the labeled remote cord. Well Problem un resolved at the moment so i will have to go back down to the boat on a non water day and look at it. I pulled the remote cord but still nothing and messed with all the connection cables they appeared to look good, Unit powers up like it should and everything looks right but here is the strange part when I would scan for a station on the radio it would make a single beep sound come from the speaker once it searched and got a station but no music. I tried a cd as well but same result no music. The mute button on this unit is the power button if tapped one it goes in to mute mode tapped again it unmutes tried this as well. Unless I'm missing something.

@robert843. Did this work at all this season? You may want to try removing the face plate and checking the gold contacts on the face plate and the head unit for any corrosion.

It worked the last time out which was 3 or so weeks ago. I will check those connections again but the looked ok. The face plate seems to be working fine. Even when I turn the volume up the volume number on the face plate goes up just no sound

@robert843. You have a couple of inline fuses shown in your pic. Have you checked those? You may also have a shorted out speaker. I forget if you can unplug so of the speakers from behind the radio or not. If you can try that. One shorted speaker can draw all the amp power.

But typically when that happens you get some noise/crackle/sounds from the speakers...it isn't normally just dead....this is a strange one. Wonder if Yamaha customer service/tech support would be of any help.
