I thinking about moving the batteries under the helm to free up space under the seats for ballast bags. Has anyone done this?

Moved my amps but not the batteries. I would be a little worried about having batteries in a pretty enclosed space (potential explosive gasses, etc) but don’t really know enough to be sure.

I have never heard of anyone doing this. Probably because the size cable you'd need to run to the engines would be huge and expensive.

Plus, from a weight-balance perspective, you are putting the heavy batteries on the same side of the craft as the pilot (a spot you know is always occupied while underway). In the stock configuration, at least you have some offset for the pilot weight against the battery weight.

That said, I do think it is doable. I don't think gasses would be an issue--they are already in a closed compartment in the aft...
