Saint Marteen

Just booked a week in Saint Marteen for May. Last time I was there was the mid 90's, I was a squid, broke as hell, and shared a hotel room with 5 other squids. So hoping this trip will be a bit more luxurious!! Anyone been lately and have any must do's must don'ts?

I remember when I was a horny squid that had been at sea for 30-40 days with 600 other squids the first thing we did was head to Orient Beach to see all the young naked girls only to be disappointed by a bunch of naked old people with scars and saggy hangers. Now I'm the old dude with scars, but doubt you'll catch me naked on Orient Beach!!

Go to Mullet Bay, definitely most beautiful beach on that island, probably a mile long too. Volcanic rock on one end and then kind of like a small hike up a hill on the other. You may see some naked people, we were around an area where there wasn’t, but as we walked down the beach there were a few.

The beach where all the airplanes land is probably cool to see but the local who drove us to Mullet Bay said it was the best beach, and the airplane beach gets annoying with the sound, and it’s usually the busiest since people want to see it.

That’s all I can give for advice though, we were on a cruise so just stopped at that one beach but out of every island we visited this one sticks in our heads as the best!

I highly recommend taking a day trip over to Anguilla. If you do, you'll wish you were staying there and that's where you'll want to visit again.

Oh man - we love St Marteen - been there 3 years in a row now. We usually stay in Simpson Bay. Maho Beach Bar (with the planes) is usually a must see, but it gets old quick, especially now that they charge you $1 to use the f’n restroom. Mullet Bay is pretty. Friars Bay is also beautiful. Petite Plage is another awesome beach - but tiny. Catamaran to Anguilla is amazing.

We are staying in a house overlooking the beach that is between Friars Bay and Happy Bay Beach. It supposed to be about a 5 minute walk to Friars and a 10 minute walk to Happy Bay.

A couple of years ago - we did an ATV tour of the island out of Philipsburg. It was a full 6 hour cruise around the entire circumference of the island - stopping for pics and lunch/drinks - it was awesome. Me and my wife on 1 ATV and my twins each got their own. We went up every nook and cranny of the island and had a great time. And dinner in Philipsburg followed after.
Driving a Yamaha ATV at 45-50mph on highway, with traffic was “interesting”.

Also - UnderXSM is an underwater dive park.
Concrete sculptures, a helicopter, a crashed Boeing plane and submarine submerged in a crystal clear lagoon. That was way COOL. The barracudas and the sharks lurking around - not so much.
Look it up.

You can drive to Friars. But Happy Bay required a walk down a path from Friars. No car access.
