SeaDek Installation

Alright. I guess that isn't bad what is covered up by the sea deck, but on my boat there are two snaps in front of the ski locker and two snaps toward the transom past the fuel hatch and two behind the captain's chair that the sea dek doesn't cover. Figured it would look half done and would always bother me so I opted for the gel patch. Go Pro or Go Home I always say :). When you test fit your pieces you will see if they cover all your snaps. Mine did not, but I have a different boat.

I posted above how I did mine, it is really very simple. Sand, mix, fill, sand till smooth done. You can do two small applications to make it easier.

If you change your mind, and I know that Spectrum is running at two to three weeks, and you want to use the gel patch, private message me your name, address and phone number, I will send you an extra un opened brand new jar that I have, no charge. You could get it by Friday.

A member here sent me one for free so I could get mine done and not wait. And I ordered one that finally came in that I don't need and don't mind giving it to you.

Of course it is up to you, let me know and I will have it shipped tomorrow.

I end up using the fast cure 4000 UV protection sealant. I was reading the process involved with the gel coat patch and I was afraid of screwing something up.

I put the UV sealer in tonight and like you I have the same snap location as we have same boat and year model. I will look at it tomorrow and see how it turned out as well as soft lay the seadek in to see if it noticeable. If so I will gladly pay you for patch kit. I read your method on using it but got a bit scared with the sanding part as I was worried I could make it worse then by just opting for the uv protected white sealer.

No worries, thought I would lay the offer out there. I obsess over stuff that annoys me on certain things. My boat is one of them. No way to really screw up the holes and gel coat patch. Let me know. FYI, the patch dries in about 2 hours to 3 hours rock hard ready to be sanded, so what I did was to scrub the deck, wipe with acetone, rough up slightly the snap hole, apply the patch and did other things while it dried. Same day job.

Your profile signature says you have a 2019 AR 19 footer, I have a 2020 AR 21' footer.
Oh crap I never changed that oops. I will do that now. I joined while I was searching and that was my original want. I’m the guy that called you from Oklahoma about the used boat ??. Loving it by the way.

Hard to keep track, I talk to members all the time, had two call me today. My bad, I remember now.

Yea you are probably the go to guy on this site or at least on of them. I know I’ve got a lot of good info from your post. I also just got the blue seas add a battery and will be doing that project next week with new speaker install.

@Pokes1789 Not a problem. I know what I know about what I have done through the help of others here. I want to give as much as I can back to this community and its members. Still a lot more to learn :)

Ordered SeaDeck from @JetBoatPilot Last week for sale and I just received it tonight, fantastic Customer Service! Pretty excited to get it installed, hopefully sometime this week.

This is for the Swim Deck to complete the entire boat.

Were you able to complete all the snaps with a single tub of patch? Trying to decide if I should order 1 or 2.

One is more than enough. Mix it half at a time, it can dry super fast with the chemical reaction.

It has a shelf life of they say 6 months unopened. If you feel more comfortable, order 2. Depends if you have anything else you want to patch up. I had some dings from boards in the cockpit and one small one on the swim platform. Figured what the hell, fix it all. It came out great and you would never know where I used it.

If you end up not using the second jar, you could sell it/give it to someone on here or keep it as a reserve.

Cool, thanks. I'm sure if I look hard enough I'll find something else that needs repair, lol.

Count your snap holes. The recommendations on the jar is to only mix up half at a time, and I was only able to do slightly more than half of my snaps before it started to set up in the cup.

Get yourself a waxed paper cup - mine were slightly larger than a double shot glass - and I found a safety pin to be helpful when filling the holes, to pop the air bubble that gets sealed over with the patch paste.

Wet/dry sandpaper (I sanded down to 800 grit), and a 3" buffing kit from Harbor Freight with a wool pad would be about all the rest you'd need.

How are you guys removing the snaps on the floor? Just drilling them out?
I haven't taken a close look at them yet but want to be ready for when the time comes. That marine mat thing gets scolding hot in the sun. Makes the "no shoes on the boat" argument hard to justify, lol.

Figured it would take me all morning to remove Marine Mat. It pulled up just fine. Less than 5 Minutes to remove it and another 5 minutes to wipe everything down with Acetone and clean.

The snaps have a phillips head screw. Just unscrew them and take any small chips out as some will leave them.

Wow.....So you had Marine Mat? I noticed mine gets really hot. I can't imagine replacing it however, I probably have 20-30 snaps. That's a lot of work. I may have to allow flip flops on board. The hardest thing to clean off the mats are footprints.
