Nope. Reject. Never. Ain't gonna eat them things.

Headed to Atlanta this weekend for the NASCAR race. Got to stop in Senoia, GA. We are outside the walls of Alexandria, which is the town of The Walking Dead. So freaking cool!

My cousin and I took my Dad on a upland bird hunt this morning. We both have young German Shorthair Pointers and it was a ton of fun. The dogs wore themselves out running all over the fields, and are now "dog tired."

Extracting the remainder of bolts....
Annnd installing new depth finder.
Along with the start of some serious cleaning.

@Speedling Are those water leak stain marks around the table base? I will definetely be pulling mine as soon as it warms up. Meant to last fall after I had all that water in the ski locker drain, but decided to wait til spring cleaning.

The whole thing is moldy. Soft from the table base to the rear. Where my family is 90% the time when not in the water.
Yamaha could have gotten a more directly sized tank and gotten 5 gallons more.
I cannot for the life of me get these bolts out. Going to be drilling 8 of them all the way out in order to remove.
Previous owner had this boat on a lift in brackish back canals of Napels Florida. Starting to see why you avoid used salt water boats. Flush away what you want but it's what is underneath that can really be damage. Dead black mold everywhere.
Good thing i know a guy that is skilled in pressure washing. (Me)
Anything else i can do while this thing is open?
Anyone got ideas on the bolt extraction? Vice grips won't work on the last 8. They have been getting sprayed for weeks with penetrating oil. Aero kroil even.

@Speedling do you access to a welder to weld a hex bolt to the top and take off with a large breaker bar? Plus the heat may help from tacking the nut on? Make sure to lay a weld blanket or something down and area ventilated with the fuel tank right there.

Or else you could grind two flat spots for a better grip? I know you probably tried but tap on the heads down and also try to tighten as it may loosen up some and give you play to back off. Hope something works for you.

I had to drill several of mine out also. I put all new stainless, allen head bolts back in . On the couple that I couldn't remove I just silicone the heads that snapped off back in place to give it an appearance of being installed.

@Speedling First thing that comes to mind is heat from a torch, but with the proximity of the fuel tank and the fact they are stuck in a fastener imbedded in fiberglass, that could be tricky. Not having mine off yet, how are the nuts/keepers attached to the floor? Glassed in? Could they be removed and replaced with new then reglassed or epoxied back into position? Grinding/cutting off flat drilling and retapping can be difficult with a S.S. fastener. Is there enough bolt sticking up, and are the threads good to put a double hex nut on them and try to crack it off that way? Good Luck.

@T. Turner I hunted pheasants for years and never got what you guys got in one day. I stopped hunting because I grew tired of humiliating taunts of the creatures I hunted.

The heads on remaining bolts are off. I don't have a stainless welder setup. Grinding a flat spot may work to get a wrench on them.

Lol i like that idea of siliconing the heads back on! But with 8 of them broke off that may not be good for keeping the floor in place so SOME of them need to come out yet.

Nuts are embedded in the glass.
I tore up threads trying to get vice grips to work. Got one that way and one started before dinner last night.
Afraid that drilling out could screw up threads in the nut as well. Gotta find my tap set probably too.

These werent wild birds, we went to a hunt club. They were flight pen raised birds that were released an hour or so before we started hunting. It was great experience for the dogs. And dont let the picture fool you, quite a few of them got away from us. The final count was 10 pheasants and 4 quail.

Have you tried bolt extractors on the remaining exposed bolts? I've had pretty good luck with them in the past. Another idea would be do soak the bolts in 50/50 acetone and ATF. This is by far the best penetrating lubricant I could find. Another mothod would be to heat up the bolt and use wax to seep down into the threads releasing the bolt. Plenty of videos on youtube about this process.
