Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to be exact . Cool and the gang, that’s history right there brother. Astrodome is shut down now. City doesn’t know what to do with it.

Perfect for the man cave. Vintage Yamaha receiver (1974-78). This one was literally new in the box. Never used, the box disintegrated around the packing material. Will be an ongoing project. It’s in working condition however the dial need a cleaning as it sounds scratchy when turning volume or balance knobs. Second, will replace all capacitors. Lights are all functioning but will keep original.

Very Nice! The scratchy issue should be a pretty easy fix. Why change all the capacitors if it is working good?

The Pacific coast is pretty rough. I would definitely prefer a bigger boat in those waters.

Fair question. Capacitors in general have a limited life span. Being the unit is nearly 50 years and working is a testament to the quality of parts. However, they are way past their prime. The values of the caps are most likely skewed and guaranteed to become out of tolerance. The parts themselves are around a dollar a piece and easy to find. It’s the labor that is the majority of the price. Once the caps fail, the unit is vulnerable to significant more expensive repair.
Another reason is the majority of folks that repair electronics are aging as this type of repair work is not widely taught. I say fix it locally now or risk having to potentially ship it for more expensive repair.
this Unit as is will fetch $150- to $200. A full restored unit will go for $500.

Took the 11yr old to his first motocross event on Saturday. We found that there is a track literally less than 5 miles from the house. It's a private track run by 812MXMinistry. It's a christian outreach track, which has some interesting aspects considering the family and I are very much NOT religious. Overall though, everyone was super cool and respectful, and not pushy at all. The really are out there to have a good time and ride dirt bikes. $20 donation got us on the track. They had free coffee and hot chocolate, and there were volunteers running around everywhere "herding the cats" to make things go off well.

Track was pretty cool. Had a good deal of elevation change, and the finish jump was built over the top of a used shipping container. Made for a neat "tunnel" into the infield of the track, and had the good rides 20-25ft in the air across the top of it. It's literally in some persons "backyard" on their property, but was still maintained really well, and was a legit motocross track with double and triple jumps, table tops and good tight corners and long stretches.



They ran 15min sessions that went from most experienced to least. A/B Adults, C/D Adults, A/B Youth, C/D Youth, and First Timers. We put G in the First Timers for good reason. He's super timid, and was wearing 4 layers because it was only 33 degrees outside, and snowing. He did OK, but was nervous and tipped over the first time he got air. He immediately said he was done, but I was able to get him to push through and at least rid eback to the truck.









Overall it was a cool day to watch the big bikes lap the track, and we got G a little exposure. Not his best first ride, but that's OK. He's committed to trying it again next month.

And yes, I've been researching motocross bikes all morning for myself

Having a local artist make a bear carving out of a tree we left the trunk standing from the land we cleared for the building. He does some crazy work with a chainsaw.

Slowly getting my work truck in order. Been loading it down with hopefully all I will need on any job but time will tell. Installed some chrome simulators on the wheels Friday and hoping the front mudflaps come in soon so it stays cleaner and the 100+ gallon fuel cell & pump show up to help with the rough ride it currently has. Now debating on getting the windows tinted.

I'm not sure if the hawks are the dicks, or the crows are the dicks. But they definitely hate each other. And the crows never stop hounding them...



Sycamore trees on sunny days make any bird look cool, but crows are always a solid option if you get a little lucky with lighting. Hard to get their eyes to show. It's like trying to take a picture of a black hole...

Played in the Veteran Golf Tour charity golf tournament today. Froze my ass off in 48F and 25 mph winds today!!!! But it was nice supporting other Veterans!
