snap cover

Hello all

Since I have my boat I use the shipping cover to protect the boat. But now that I installed a mtk tower on my sx210 I modified the cover but I dont like the result and the shipping cover is old.
Im looking to add the snap cover for my boat and I want to install the snap by myself.

Any installation advice ? I love the snapless boat but I think I will have a lot of advantage using the snap cover instead of a onepiece cover.

Yea I have a sx210 with a aftermarket tower , my next cover will be the snap on cover , it will just make everything Easy'er !!

I have a snap on cockpit and bow cover, but I had it installed by the canvas shop....

I did install the bow cover on my LX210, and it was pretty easy. Just go slow and have two people do it - makes it easier to get things centered properly. Drill slowly in reverse to get the holes started. The snaps themselves will cover any small chips.

I have snap covers and also had them made at a canvas shop. Both covers custom made and installed where $900. I like being able to just have the bow covered on cool days and it is easy to cover while in the water, but....
One disadvantage to having a seperate cockpit and bow cover is that when it rains the water runs down the windshield and under the bow cover and then onto the floor, which gets the front carpet all wet. My boat sits in the water all the time and when it is in the water the front of the boat is low which does not allow the water to run back and out of the boat very well.

I have sunbrella snap on covers that the original owner had custom made. Boat is outside in the summer and even after a hard rain, the carpets remain dry. They work great and look great. They are still in perfect shape, but when the time comes I will try to replicate them.

Do/will the snap on bow covers shed water from waves breaking over your bow? I read that story of a yamaha being swamped in the ocean and has me worried now to go out in gulf.

Yes, that is the idea. Many of us planning the Bimini trip have done that, essentially creating a closed bow.
I just recently installed mine, got the bow/cockpit 2-piece OEM cover, extremely happy with it.
The factory places 3 snaps into the bottom part of the center windshield frame, so that the OEM bow cover attaches to it from underneath. There is not water penetration down from windshield.

EDIT: Needless to say, there is more to not getting swamped than a bow cover .

Do you guys have a problem with the snaps that just snap onto the windshield? Seems my snaps are stronger than the clip is so i pull them all off as i undo the cover. No problems with the bow cover though because they all screw in.

One thing to note as well is that the seam in the bow cover that i got wasn't perfectly centered. Just gotta watch it. And pull everything tight with a friend and do some corners first to be sure it's what you want.

Very wise and a good call. Most people do not realise if they go out into the open sea they have a whacking great big hole in their boat.

Mine windshield snaps never came off.
