I pull out the nozzle, which catches the the ball chain that holds the filler cap, splash, down goes the cap to the bottom of the river. You would think being on a boat where this possibility exists, they would design these things to float!
Does anyone know where I can get a floating fuel cap for a Yamaha boat?

Happened to me a while ago....fortunately it was shallow and I was able to retrieve it. I didn't bother re-attaching the small chain. So now I have to be careful each time I un-screw it. Not aware of one that floats.

Can you install the later model flip-style caps on your boats? Probably would require replacing the throat, but seems doable, no?
