Funny video! Also interesting how in Europe the same vehicles have much higher towing capacities. The Tiguan in the video is rated at 2200lbs in the USA, while I believe 2000kg (4400lbs) in Europe!

Interesting on the euro towing capacities. I can say that from my time in Germany they are very very tough on vehicle inspections in Germany. Brakes are a big deal and turning rotors is just not done. It was very rare to see a broken down vehicle on the side of the road. Boy I miss the autobahn and my supercharged VW Corrado with stage 3 kit.

I found it strange that in the US you have the trailer registered, where as in Europe the trailer is just a piece of equipment that comes under the insurance of the towing vehicle when it's attached, and displays the towing vehicles registration (licence) plate.
I'm still gobsmacked that cars do not have periodical safety checks, or this just in Florida?

I agree....everywhere I've lived we had annual inspections. Almost daily I see cars with busted taillights, no fenders, broken windshields, grinding brakes, bald tires, holes in exhaust, plumes of blue smoke, etc.....Annual inspections were a pain in the ass but living in florida makes me realize they weren't such a bad thing.

That's how it is in Alabama @Britboater. No trailer registration or annual sticker. However, my agent told me Nationwide doesn't consider the trailer to be part of the vehicle. It is under the boat's insurance.

Yup as Bill said it's a state to state thing here in the US if you have to register a boat trailer. Utility trailers have to be registered here in Alabama but no need for boat trailer registration. I'm not sure which states do require it here. We don't require auto inspections either....yet. I honestly would welcome auto inspections though because we have some people here that drive some sketchy ass cars

There's no yearly inspection in Florida but you can be ticketed for equipment related issues like bald tires, cracked windshield, etc.

Back in the "day' Georgia had inspections and they stopped (wow). Now some counties (Atlanta area) require emission tests but the car doesn't need brakes or lights for that! Boat trailers like utility trailers are all registered and tagged. I do think if there is an accident you may be sited for bald tires etc. but not sure. I also think the police can use lights out etc. for just cause to pull someone over.

Hilarious, reminds me of our neighbors (adult) daughter who borrowed their utility trailer, when she brought it back after using it, I painfully watched her try to back the trailer into it's parking spot, like 15 minutes went by of this - almost walked over to ask her if I could back it in for her Lol.
