Starting Problems

I purchased a Mercury 25hp jet outboard last year and have experienced starting issues twice. The motor seems to work fine and out of the blue it won’t turn over. I have triple checked to make sure the shifter is in neutral, the throttle is in start position and the lanyard key is connected. Turn the key and nothing. I try again later to try to diagnose the problem and it starts right up. The the motor only has a few hours on it so this is frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Check all battery connections ? How old is the battery? Battery voltage ?
