I'm thinking of installing a set of speakers simular to the ones in the boat now in the stern. With the adition of the two speakers, will I have to upgrade or add a amp to power them or will the existing amps be sufficient?

sorry I don't have an answer for you but maybe my reply will bump your post back up the "new posts" list and somebody else may be able to help,

What is the power on the head unit? how many stock speakers are on it? what are the new speakers rated?

What head unit is in your boat?

How many speakers are currently installed?

The head unit is the stock Sony unit. I have two speakers in the bow, two in the center of the boat with the sub and then the two tower speakers. All stock that came with the boat. Just want to put two more in the back equivalent to the stock ones that are already in the boat.

Sorry, I do not know enough about Scarabs to know what Sony head unit that they come with. Do you know the model number?

Unfortunately I do not and the boat is in storage. Im not very knowledgeable on stereo equipment. That's why I was just putting out there to see if anyone could refer back to there boat.

@ScarabMike, do you know the answer or what Sony head unit that he has?

The stock stereo's only issue is that it will fail within a short period of time due to corrosion.

The stock amps will not be able to power additional speakers. These amps are low draw, utility amps that have been used in boats, side by sides and so on. My advice is to replace the amps with a quality Marine amp from JL, or another reputable company.

Give @DJMattyT a shout. He has done a great job with his boat.

Thank you Mike!

So @DJMattyT can you post what you did with your boat to help out @Rtimleck ?
This is what I did to my audio system https://jetboaters.net/threads/new-audio-system-installation.7643/ but when I was talking to @Rtimleck he said he wants to keep everything that's there and add 2 more speakers on the swim platform. I suggested he gets one more of the kicker amps that's in the boat and just runs those 2 speakers off that. Although the best bet would be to take those amps out and just get one big JL or Kicker or whatever brand marine amp. The only problem with that is the Kicker speakers from Scarab are all piggy backed off each other which is an awful way to install and makes it such a pain in the ass to replace amps because the speakers don't all make runs back to the amp, so that's a pain in the ass to run all new wires.
