So im curious, when this surf behind your boat thing becomes the norm and gets boring and dull like every other trend has. what do people think will be the next big trend. parasail behind boat maybe... kite surfing with drones... submersable pull tubes... im just curious what peoples thoughts are.

EFoils.....battery and BLDC motor price drop, and we're there.

I don't consider it a trend unless you also consider wakeboarding, kneeboarding, bare footing and skiing a trend, all of which have been around for decades.

The latest would be foiling but there is a steep financial entry and a steep learning curve so I'm not sure how much that will catch on until the price drops a lithe more.

yeah i would consider wakeboarding and kneeboarding etc as trends. but just as how they are a normal common place watersport now, surfing will be the same. also if you look at almost all new sport boats. the main features are how big a wave it can create. because its trending right now. thats what i ment. like what will be the next thing that catches buyers attention and makes them get a boat.

Submersible towables..... I'm in! Someone needs to invent this immediately.

They already have them:

That's pretty sweet. It just wouldn't work in the river here, unless you like only having 3ft of visibility.

Haha yea I know not to mention the likelihood of drowning or ripping your body open from a jug/trot line :D

I’m more considered about the gators I would see. Prefer them out of sight out of mind.

We have gators too in Bama but thankfully none on our lake .....that I'm aware of lol. One of my biggest fears is surfing and seeing a big ass cottonmouth, a big fat ole rattlesnake or one of these monster alligator snapping turtles!!! o_O:eek::D

I never see them in our water sports lake, but they pulled this bad boy out a few weeks ago.

Yea I dint care for no gator!! About 5 or so years ago a family caught this 1,000+ lb monster out of an Alabama river. It was the lady;a first time gator hunting too! Thankfully these things rarely go after people and tend to themselves. They are ambush predators though. I've seen videos of people just casually swimming and there will be 3 or 4 gators just chilling around them lol. Not me!!!

Maybe that can be the new trend lol? To rodeo ride or Ollie a surf board over a gator. We've seen the slingshot or bungee videos but let's see someone backside grind a gator :D

There have been gator sightings in our area, and we've gone looking a few times but haven't seen any ourselves yet. Which is probably a good thing. As much as we want to see one, if we ever do, my wife will be done with boating and make me sell the boat.

I like a good thrill while out on the water but I’ll stick to the lakes in the Midwest. Ones without animals that can eat you!

Not sure when a "trend" becomes normal, but wake surfing has been going on for 10-20 years - not going to go away as its low impact, relatively easy and fun for the whole family. Especially as its simply an extension of ocean surfing.

The motor and battery technology keeps getting better - so I expect we'll see wake surf boards with motors soon. (they already have ocean boards with them).

-How about a towable "tube" with a lateral thruster .... that would be interesting.
-Going underwater is dangerous in and of itself - blowing out an eardrum by going too deep is easy!

I watched an old video once of wake surfing I want to say way back in the 50's on longboards when conditions weren't good in the ocean. I'll have to see if I can find that video.
