The official "What did you do to your jet boat today" thread.

Sadly, I winterized the boat today since the next few weekends will be busy, and we will be getting a call about storage soonish. I was impressed with how quickly the boat started up since it’s been over a month when we last used it, but good ole reliable MR1s I suppose!

I fucked up. I was backing in to my storage unit spot and cut the wheel a little too hard and scraped the corner of the camper next to me and tore a hole in my mooring cover. No damage to the camper just to my cover. Ordered iron on canvas patches. Hopefully it does the trick cause i dont want to buy a $1000 cover after having the boat 7 weeks.

so you were at my storage yard?! 😆

I just discovered this... a trailer bumped it i'd imagine and tore up the cover and damaged the fiberglass... :(

Hi Guys, did a bunch of small jobs last 2 weeks, and I have a question on one thing I found the other day, comments welcome.

First, we picked up the boat Friday morning and the Admiral says " we got mice" A dozen small chew marks around the seadek. I know having dealt with mice in homes or garages, they always leave a mess. I emptied the boat over the weekend and found nothing. No mice poop, bugs, anything. Wondering if it was an insect? Washed the interior and put down some traps. May be just be a one off/ 20240824_100556.jpg

Finally got around to upgrading potty room storage..

Next, I got tired of dragging out the heavy anchor that came with the boat. I have been using it as a spare, or beach anchor if needed. My main is a Fortress, so I bought a smaller one, and made a cheapo anchor suit. Couldn't justify 150 bucks or more for the real deal, even though they look great. Except for buying the new anchor, the only cost was labor. Had everything else in the garage.

Also, bled the brakes. Had to review to youtube video first, been awhile. Dexter Manual Bleed HD. Very helpful.

How old is your SeaDek? This is pretty common as that edge many times has no adhesive on it and it peels just enough that once it gets sun baked a few years it will break off just from wear and tear.

The deck is probably 7-8 years old, previous owner installed. I had not thought of wear and tear causing this. We use the boat quite a bit, and they all seemed to show up at once, but maybe we just missed it. Thanks for your comment though.

Dog claws can take pieces out of the of the edge SeaDek. They have to catch it just right. Only happened once in 3 years on our previous boat.

Last time out, front anchor let loose and boat moved and hit my stationary Sand Shark pole at the rear, that I wish did not hold as well as it did..:). Scratched my vinyl graphic down the whole starboard side....So, I stripped all graphics off the boat, and ordered Impact graphics from Jet Boat Pilot. Pricey but will be very custom and also help protect the side of the boat due to them being raised 3 dimensional. Our boat is white and gray, so I went with red over black graphics. Should look very cool !
Template just showed up yesterday for the test fit.

Put up some pics when you get a chance. Love to see them.

resealed the clean out port to hopefully lessen the water getting into the hull...

Have you thought about getting the Jet boat pilot Yamaha access port riser. The clean out ports will always push water to a degree..... just raising the access port level eliminated the constant on off of the bilge pump while traveling......... the extra water was just pouring into the factory access port as the seals on that thing are not really watertight. By just installing the riser it gets the access port above the waterflow from the clean out ports. Was a good investment for me. 1725163507107.png

The dreaded day came way sooner this year.. The AR230 is winterized. Our oldest is back in school and my wife is taking classes again for her nurse practitioner, so sadly we have no time. Not to mention my wife is a fair weather water fan, she needs it at least 86 degrees! Time to plan my off-season projects I suppose.

Is this child abuse if they volunteer to get in the dog cage with the dog??

I've never seen a finer example of good parenting and pet ownership!

You may want a separate cage for the kid, but if space is a premium in the house, I can see the value in doubling up.

Crate training usually starts with the kids when they're younger, but many times it takes moms a while to get on board. That's where a second crate REALLY comes in handy - put mom in that one until she comes around to your parenting improvement methods!

🤣🤣🤣

I thought my trim tab controller was dead...it was inop on my last outing. Brought it home today and checked my fuse, 12V, ground and everything seems ok.

well, come to find out, that 12v signal from the ignition needs to be present for the controller to work! I found that my ignition wire was corroded and disconnected. once I repaired the wire connection, everything worked! OMG i thought I had to spend $350 on a new controller

Today I took the oil pump and super charger off to replace the super charger clutch after it toasted last outing. This is a 2017 AR195 w/ 310 hours on it and it looks like the pump and supercharger have never been apart before today. IMG_7122.jpeg

Did you have enough room without moving the engine?

Did you have enough room without moving the engine?
Yep. Plenty of room. It is annoying leaning over and working on my knees. The hardest part was finding all the hidden bolts for the oil pump, then scraping old gasket off. I was able to use my 1/4” driver to remove the flywheel bolt (it IS reverse thread). My 1/2” impact was too big. Surprisingly the small driver had enough “uumph” to break it free
