The official "What did you do to your jet boat today" thread.

Sunday (Oct 28) I put the SX210 to bed for the winter. The combination of this being a jet boat, and mild California winters, makes this easy. Not counting the trip to the gas station it took less than 1/2 hour.

- Filled the gas tank and added Sta-Bil to the gas tank

- Removed the carpets and life jackets

- Installed the anti-pooling poles

- Opened cushions so the contents of the storage compartments could dry

- Attached a small battery charger to the battery and ran the plug to the side of the boat. I'll plug the charger in two or three times over the non-boating season

- Put the boat heater (https://www.wholesalemarine.com/dav...XvsgOeS2y4UABXn4wGVVZ86s5Exaw2ShoCP_wQAvD_BwE) in and plugged it into AC.

- Covered the boat. The StormPro cover I use is 100% waterproof so the boat stays dry.

On warm days I usually start the engines and let them run for a minute perhaps twice over the winter.

One last thing of note. I just finished the third year of running the boat with the same iridium plugs. Unless they act up I'll leave them in for another year. I carry a full set of plugs on the boat just in case but the boat has been running like new since the beginning of 2016.

Got our new boat 19# box boat anchor in for under $75 of course it shows up at the end of the season but at least when we post up and chill next time we won’t be shifting in the water with the solo anchor anymore under current... winterizing the boat this weekend...

@robert843 if you don;t do the towers this is where you want your two extra speakers - like in pics 2 and 3 above!

Also put the transducer in hull. Made a little mess with epoxy. My arms were not long enough!

Test it out tomorrow. Hopefully it all works!

I've been wanting to do that for years. I have the new transducer in hand but never got around to it. I'll be interested to read your comments on how it works. Thanks for posting.

I’m meditating good vibes that all will go well this afternoon!

Will let you know.

First mod to the SX240 - Cobra Magnum AK with Fangs, thanks to Jeff @Cobra Jet Steering LLC! No, I failed to take a picture. Hoping the weather gives calm seas next week to test it out.

I want the picture of you smiling when you drive the boat.

Took the boat out, I’d say the results were not that great. At low speeds (under ~10mph) works 100%. Intermittent at best at speed. Mostly didn’t work. Sometimes it would work untill 30. I might see what another transducer cost and try to mount it in the same location as everyone else,Behind the current speed temp transducer. I put mine in the bottom near the tunnel.

I am by no means a transducer expert but is there a transducer that work doing 30 plus?

I’d assume so, Ny neighbors works at 30 mounted on the transom and i have seen a few post here stating that it worked at speed mounted in the hull, they were mounted by the stock one though.

Seeing that it would be $150 for another transducer and epoxy, I will prob just live with this one. My main goal isto know depth when coming close to shore. Plus the nav charts all have depth readings on them so gives a good reference

I have mine mounted to the ride plate but i am not sure how accurate it is at speed.

When mine was reading it seemed accurate to what the chart showed plus the overage of the lake currently. I don’t know why but I felt like I didn’t want to attach it to the ride plate. Does yours work at speed?

Not sure. The top view Where shows your direction speed what marker you're passing ect is all correct. But I feel the down view is probably 2 or 3 seconds delay at speed.

Mine works well up to 50, but it is mounted externally.

Yep, it should work at speed. If there is no air trapped or a gap or too much turbulence where it's mounted for "shoot-through-hull".

I didn't get any pics, but we brought her home from storage by the lake. As my daughter said on the way home yesterday, "we gave the boat a ride on the trailer instead of her giving us a ride on the water". I couldn't have said it better myself! She has her own garage to stay in at our home. There are a few things that need tending to over the winter that are mainly maintenance related. Plus, I'll get to do a little garage boating and visit with her more often.;)

Installed the Mate series rod holders on the swim platform today.

They are 15 degree. I was going to get 30 but the 15 were readily available. I’m glad I didn’t get 30, I think the angle would of been to much on the platform. Plenty of room underneath for which ever though.
