anyone know why the cap on my trailer hub keeps popping out? The rubber booty keeps popping off when it pops out. It only happens on this one hub. When I put it on a jack the tire spins freely. I grease behind them a few times a year or as needed..

I kept losing 1, tire was balanced, i just used some Gorilla tape to keep it on.

The blue shows that there is grease in the hub....if there is no blue, you need more grease. No idea why it would be going in and out....

maybe I said it wrong. I fill it up with grease go for a ride and it pops out where the blue is showing.. it doesn't fall all the way off but it does push the rubber booty or protector off. I've gone through 3 of them in the last 2 days. The other 3 I filled them with grease as well not having the same issue. its the same temperature as the other 3 when I feel them after I go 4-5miles.

I just had my trailer repaired for the same reason. My brake wheels (front axle has no brakes) were both getting so hot they would sizzle when they hit the water. The grease would heat up, expand, then come out all over the wheel. They fixed both wheels and then informed me that I was putting too much grease in the bearing buddies. I didn't know it but the grease going into the bearing buddies does not reach the actual bearings. It is blocked by the seals. So I thought I was greasing the bearings when I pumped grease into the bearing buddies but not. They said that was a very common misconception about bearing buddies. They said one squirt every six months or so would be good. That grease in the bearing buddy is only meant to help seal the outside of the bearing and seal. They said my actual spindle and bearing area had water in the area, and the wheel bearing grease was inadequate. The seals were also in need of replacement.

I've now taken the boat to the two local lakes with no overheating brakes. I thought there was a problem with the brake actuator. I had recently replaced both calipers.

Over-greasing the Bearing Buddies is major cause for it to pop out. Happened on our boat. Seen it as soon as I got home with it as I bought our boat in mid April this year and drove 5 hours home....noticed the cap was pushed out.

I do pump grease in until it's full.. I'll clean it out tomorrow and try and see if that helps thanks for the help
