Hopefully someone can give me some insight from experience on this. When I bought my boat I asked the salesman at the dealership about trim tabs on these boats because coming from Stern drives I always had and used trim tabs. He told me that they do not do any good on these boats. I have had it for over a month now and have come across many times where I think tabs would help, for example when I have everyone in the boat in the back while pulling a wakeboard and it wants to fall down off a plane or when we were loaded up with gear heading out to our cabin in the San Juan Islands and having to move people around.

Has anyone used or have experience with tabs on a 24 foot jet boat? Did they help keep the nose down and or balance the boat?

A friend of mine has a set on his 05 sx230. He says they are very helpful. I'm still tryingto get him to join this site....o_O

I did indeed have a set on my "former" SX230. They worked great to stop porpoising in rough water as well as in leveling the boat when passengers were no well balanced throughout.

What size and brand did you have? Any recommendations?

My Tabs were Hydraulic.

RIV1212PNC Trim Tab Kit, YAM SR210/ $569.95 (in 2007) - got these from Riva

The controller that comes with the Tabs does not show the tab position. The Upgraded one that I purchased not only shows the tab position, but it also "auto retracts" when you turn off the power. You want to install the upgraded controller initially because it comes with its own actuator and replacing them would be like doing the entire install all over again.

EIC5000 Electronic Indicator Control Kit $375.00 - (in 2007) got this from Bennet directly. They gave me a credit of $75 for the standard controller.

I've had them on my boat a long while...they do help leveling the load and makes the ride more enjoyable. Mostly because the loose nut behind the wheel stays quiet about people crowding one side or the other. :p
