just saw this pop up on YouTube, courtesy of Yamaha!

Any idea what size ballast bags they have in the front & back of the boat?

The Yamaha stuff says a total of 1,400 lbs, but I'm not sure what the distribution is.

I love that Yamaha has stepped up their marketing game this year. That's the second cool video I've seen of the 242X.

That's awesome !!!! The perfect all around family boat !!! Love my yamaha !!

That's cool!!!! Now lets put some real weight in that sucker. See the bag in the nose and on the floor in the opening clip. :p

Saw that too, and another in the back on the floor too. No way it's only 1400lbs in the video...
It isn't. There is probably around 2300-2500 pounds in that boat. But still awesome for Yamaha to finally embrace Wakesurfing. I applaud them for doing this! Now give me a call. :D

There is quite a bit of weight in that boat but what's more interesting is that the boat does not appear to be listing to the surf side.

Yeah they do have all of the weight in the center

Good eye @jcyamaharider ... you can see the 2 extra green bags they have in this screen shot:
242x extra bags.JPG
The 242 comes with 2 50gallon bags under each rear seat, and a 100 gallon bag in the ski locker (1500lbs - 375,375, 750).
Looks like those 2 bags might be 350-500lb bags....so at most an additional 700-1000lbs.

I watched again and caught what looks like a sumo sac under/behind the passenger seat (@ 20 sec in).

So maybe between moving that bag around and clever camera angles when actually weighted for surfing they are not showing the list? Or maybe using different throttle positions between port/starboard they are getting the wake to clean up on the surf side?

The low transom helps those boats out a lot, BUT there is still room for improvement.

There leaning it :)

Wait, hold on you guys. Isn't this the company that told us surfing is only a fad and will be gone soon?

I applaud them for making a video that appeals to how much fun we are having with our boats. Now if they could just show more wipe outs and epic fails like what happens in real life...and capture all the laughter. Video of smiling happy people is what will sell more of their boats.

And that 242X wake looked good but could be better with a Wedge.

I think the just a fad talk was that just talk , big company's never reveal what they are realy thinking :)

Hopefully they are thinking of upping the 212X game to try to get me to open my wallet.

They are headed in the right direction, but if you have the money and surfing is the primary activity this is not the boat for you...just keepin' it real.

Agreed. If you're gonna market it as a wake/surf boat, then you gotta go all in. More ballast, surf tabs, and some kind of wake shaping device/wedge is a requirement.
At $73k+ - it's surpassed Moombas, Axis', and Ski Supreme's - and all those are surf ready out of the box.

I like surfing / sand bar action / running , all around family boat !!!
