I’ve been told I have some weird boat rules. So I want to see if anyone else has some that might make sense or not. Here are mine

1. No spray sun screen
2. No red drinks (ie Gatorades, cool aid, or wine)
3. No Cheetoes or nacho cheese Doritos

I have others like no shoes, but I think those 3 are my stand outs.

Other than not caring about shoes, same.

The spray sunscreen has been done by plenty as soon as they get in the water, and it gets all over the swim deck, at which point I have had those people run their hands over it to see what an absolute pain in the ass it is. In one case, it was the daughter-in-law, and I didn't have to say a word when my grandson slipped and hurt himself as he fell in the water. Whenever she's on the boat now, SHE'S the spray sunscreen cop to others. The rest is easy for people to grasp.

No bananas on the boat, no shoes in the cabin. Don't care what you eat or drink, make sure it makes it into your pie hole. Red wine is usually not an issue in summer. I mean, ya, don't drop the jar of red beets and you will be fine. Rather not test that on white sunbrella, and besides my salad won't taste as good. Lol. Keep your hands off the signal horn until permission is given and NO playing with the dinghy. There is a time and a place for everything. No beers for captain or crew until we are tied up at the slip. We like boring dockings.

Edit: Oh I forgot, you said weird...for you liveaboards asking to use our head...don't pee in the sink! Yes, it is a thing.

No sea shells or "pretty" rocks on the seats and make sure your trash makes it into a bag, I'm not your maid. Also, lets not stand on the seat cushions if we don't have to....

When people go out with me I give a quick safety briefing, I expect and demand full attention during this time, fire extinguisher location, how to access the PFD’s from the Tea Bag, how to stop the boats engines, etc.. this takes about 30 seconds max. One rule I have is that if I ask you to do something, do what I ask you without questioning me, first, and I’ll either explain the ask later or they’ll figure it out soon enough.

I also prefer not to have alcoholic beverages on board. Some folks I know handle their alcohol well, I’ve had others who do not handle their alcohol well, if something bad goes down I don’t need to baby sit their ass. If it’s the folks who handle their alcohol well on board I don’t mind if they bring alcoholic beverages. Funny thing is those folks rarely bring alcohol…🤔.

Since I have a raw water wash down I’m not worried about chittle, that’s the crumbs of Cheetos, or any other food items getting on the deck or upholstery, anything that gets spilled gets rinsed off and it flows out the deck drains.

Not stepping on the upholstery is easy as well, the bow seat cushions get stowed if folks are wanting to stand up front and fish off of the casting platforms. Be nice if I could get me some dancing girls up front….

No crabby 🦀 attitudes.

Good comments here. Most passengers do not understand what it takes to own and care for a boat properly.
And, they certainly do not know the costs involved. Nothing worse than people disrespecting what's suppose to be a day of fun! Common sense goes a long way.

When growing up the only way my brother and I could make a few peaceful moments amidst the ongoing fights was with mutual truces. We made a no pushing each other out of the boat rule that stands in my boat as well. I get lots of grumpy old man accusations with that and when I not so tactfully remind people, sometimes with insults to their intelligence, "if its a cushion, don't stand on it", "if its a walkway, don't sit in it".
