Does anyone have any idea what this hole is for? It looks like it had duct tape over it at one point. I'm thinking this is how the water is getting into my hull.

I believe it is where the cleanout tray drain discharges. If my memory is correct then there should be a 90 degree plastic fitting in that hole connect to the tube going to the cleanout tray drain fitting.

is it maybe where the thermostat exit point is? but definitely a place where water could enter,

It's over the port engine right behind the ladder. The clean out tray drain is toward the starboard from there.

Have you owned the boat since new? If not maybe it was something the previous owner added.

I just went out and looked at my boat since it's a 07 230, I definitely don't have that hole on the port side. As Andy suggested it's either a bad mod by a previous owner or a big mess up at the factory.

I just bought the boat last October. I'm finding all kinds of things that need fixing. Thanks for looking for me @Scottintexas . I guess I'll find some way to plug it, besides duct tape!

For a simple fix I would put a fitting similar to below in the hole with a clamped off hose on the barded end.

Plug her up!

Does it look like the previous owner had a chart plotter installed at the helm?

Depth sender? Speedo sender?

I just checked mine as well and no hole there. Perhaps there was an LED light?
