I know this thread is mostly about Bourbon however I am mostly a Rum drinker. So I ran across Richland Rum when we were camping in GA. It is actually made in two locations one of them being Brunswick Ga and the other is Richland Ga where it was first made. It is a single estate rum and in my opinion as I sit here sipping it over ice is worth the price. For me it is very smooth almost like a fine bourbon. Anyway I am curious if anyone else has run across it and if so how did you like it?
I was in Brunswick and stopped by Richland Rum. The tour guide had just left for the day and was given a tour by the distiller. Although this is primarily a bourbon thread, and Like you, I found that same version comparable to a smooth bourbon and works great in any bourbon mixed drink. I ordered a flight while on the tour. The distiller explained that each of the five expressions all started the same way but between aging and casking would greatly affect the end product. They had 5 in total to choose from. I bought the same bottle you have last year. This year, I went with a higher ABV and it’s surprisingly smooth.
Infinity bottles are pretty common. I've debated starting one up as well, but I'm always hesitant to blend different bourbons/whiskeys together (some I like, some I don't as much). I have a fear I'll waste the last couple pours of Eagle Rare blending it with something cheaper or a different flavor profile and it'll end up spoiling it.
I agree it would seem disappointing to mix a pricey bourbon and result in a not so palatable blend. The appeal for me is that there are plenty of quality entry point bourbons that in the future may potentially be harder to purchase as they become popular. As is the case with select bourbons in general. Buffalo Trace is a good example of price points increasing with demand. I can’t even find a bottle near me anymore. I would have to travel further and pay more. So far in the infinity bottle:
Woodford reserve distiller’s select
Four roses single barrel
Penelope bourbon barrel strength
I’m really starting to believe many Bourbon brands are overrated. I grabbed this over the weekend just to try. I gotta say. It’s pretty damn good. And the best part……it was $16.95 for a 750ml bottle.

Evan Williams has stepped up their game. We snag this one all the time for between $23.99 and $26.99 for the 1.75L. I think the 750ml is in the same range as your selection...

Their B-I-B has always been good, but the problem in my area is supply. I have one place I can find it reasonably consistently, but more and more, they're sold out when the mood hits.
That might turn into a "buy it if they have it, and replace it once you open it" bottle

If you were closer to Georgia, I'd meet you with some. It's literally everywhere down here. Can't think of one place we go to that doesn't carry it. If you ever come through on a trip to Florida, make a little room and go all bootlegger on some.
I can totally see someone from Asia that hit it big in Vegas picking up a bottle on their way home. I was dumbfounded by the things for sale in and around the casinos on my first trip to Vegas. Even worse, there is probably a case of those in the back, they just bring one out at a time to push the scarcity.
Spent some time in CO last week and picked up a couple bottles at the distillery. I really like their 'normal' bourbon, so the distillery was a must stop during our trip. Cool place if you are in the area. I would have really liked to eat at the restaurant, looked really good, but just didn't time it right for that.
I was in a few of my local ABC stores yesterday afternoon checking out what was left from the monthly allocation release. Didn't find anything but Buffalo Trace and a bottle of Elijah Craig. But I noticed a bottle of Basil Hayden that I haven't seen or noticed before on the regular shelves, Basil Hayden Toast. It's got a great flavor and finish. I was pleasantly surprised.
Really hoping people move on from bourbon so Eagle Rare becomes LESS "rare". I remember when it could be easily found, and $35-ish. Now, it's $40-45 (or more), and while not hen's teeth rare, still more difficult to find than it should be in my area. I think it's one of the best all-around values, and everyone seems to like it if I offer
Gotta say I was caught off guard by this pick. Its very tasty and has a nice warmth to it. It can be found most places unlike hyped up Blantons and other Buffalo Trace offerings. Paid $39.99. Well worth the money.
