Review of the all New 2016 Yamaha 242X E-Series Wake Sports jet boat

@Glen Could you or anyone with the latest config 240 boat test to see if you can get a ski under the starboard side seat extending into the helm storage area?

Certainly can try.
Measured it at one point and it was much shorter than my imagination envisioned it to be. (Did not write down measurement,..., that time.)
Nearly certain that it is not close, but you know what happens when you assume-

Regarding the Bow Filler Cushions....I don't know if I'm alone here, but in the couple years I've had my AR240 I never once installed these. I'm thinking on just removing these as soon as I get the X. How many actually use them?

For us, the kids like them and like reconfiguring the bow. Their fort, in a sense-

Gone out fishing with a buddy and we didn't take any of the cushions.

Middle answer is likely to put the seat extender cushions in (very bow) and leave the center filler cushions at home. All storage available-

I like the cushion options & just decide per trip which options we'll have that day.

We use the bow filler nearly every time we are out. But my boat is an older 21 foot hull.
I wish Yamaha had not created the configurable front seats. From this families perspective they only diminished the storage and gave us a feature we would never use.

We took our 242x out for the first time this past Sunday and my wife loved having the bow filler cushions in! She was soaking up sun while we broke in the motors!!!

Measured under the starboard side seat back into the helm area, and you are correct, it is only 5' 8" corner to corner. Plus you have the servo motor box there to contend with in the E-Series boats. Much shorter than I imagined too....partly because of that silly foot space they put in the front of the bow seats. I looked up my Connelly pilot ski and it is 68".....so it MIGHT just fit.....will be tight!!!

Julian, we have 68" skis also. Are you going to find an 'X' to try to fit them in?

Just an FYI regarding a couple things.....I was toying with peeling the graphics off and come to find out, the Gray stripe around the boat is in the Gelcoat. I sure am glad I like the Graphics!
I also changed the direction of the SoundBar and I think it made a really big difference...this would absolutely come down to personal preference.
Lastly, I re-routed the straps for the Bimini so the canvas wraps around the cage on the side....this may be an oversight from my dealer, but upon looking at other pics they were also run in my opinion incorrectly. If anyone would like a pic of this I'm happy to take one when I get the boat back from the dealer...currently in for an in-op fuel gauge.

Very close to making the leap from a stern drive leap to jet boat with the 242x. Looking for some guidance from recent buyers on 242x regarding pricing flexibility from dealer. Any thoughts from recent 242x buyers would be appreciated.

Limited flexibility in discounts - they add in covers and some other extras, but Yamaha is pressuring them to keep the price up. When I went to pick mine up, dealer said someone was interested if I decided not to pick it up. They are in demand.....and I'm very happy with the performance of my boat.

Unless you are willing to wait a month or two, and hope that there is still a dealer somewhat close to you, that is still trying to sell the boat to prevent them needing to store the boat for the Winter.
This time of year, the seller has the helm-

I will be listing my 242X shortly after July 4th weekend in case anyone is not wanting to spend $72k plus on a new one. I have the black and blue one with a painted trailer. It currently has 18 hours on it which will likely increase a few by the time I get ready to list it. Feel free to PM me if you might be interested.

Curious on you reasons for selling.........

Got to make room for another new one next year plus I don't want to keep it over the winter due to space issues at my residence.

So I rotated my Wet Sounds Sound bar foward and down today as the helm and co pilot seats don't have their own dedicated speakers and a such it is a treble dead zone in the boat....or WAS....not with the sound bar pointing there....it is perfect. Eventually I might add two more speakers in the cabin area there, but for now this solves the problem!

@Kane Other than the graphics, sound etc. - how do you like the new boat's ride as compared to your old, was it a 2014? I am very curious about your perspective on the ride/acceleration/speed/chop handling and noise level. Thank you for any input you can offer!
