Does anyone have any good/bad issues with running a Scarab 195 open from Florida to Bimini? I feel like it would be to small to handle the open sea if the weather turns on the way

All depends on conditions. If it’s as rough as it was going in 2021, I would NOT even try but if it’s as calm as it was on the return trip I’d say go for it. You just never know.

I did it in '21 with our 195. It was rough for everyone. 2-3' swells if I remember correctly. Ran out of fuel around 1/2 way across. Fortunately it had calmed to around 1' by then so we were able to make it the rest of the way using less than 15 gallons. This was good as we only had 25 gallons on the swim platform and the 195 holds 30 total. We seriously considered turning around so we' d be close to the US coast when we ran out.

It was pretty much glass on the way back and we made it on one tank.

If I were to do it again, I would carry more than 25 gallons (maybe like 35) so I could go a bit slower. As it was, we pushed our speed to try and hold more economic speed.
