Something interesting happened to me that someone out there my have some comments regarding what may have happened.

I plug my pee holes with plastic golf tees. I forgot to unplug the set nearest to the transom and boated (not over 20 mph or 7200 rpm-a bit choppy on the lake) for over 2 hours and not over heating alarm or any indication that anything was wrong. The pee holes closest to the bow were working (I checked those)

So where was my cooling water going? After I took the boat out of the lake I saw the tees were still snug in the pee holes. I would think they would have blown out (they came out easily). So what gives. Any ideas!

Thanks

Most of it goes out the back anyway. Nothing to worry about. They are simply indicators.

if the tees came out easily I would have thought they would have been blown out also, maybe at the lower RPM's it just didn't have the force but it surprising to me.

Make sure you check it next time out or if you have good water pressure at home try it on the hose. As Bruce said it's only an indicator but you need to know if they are not working.

If you haven't seen this before, watch this video by our member buckbuck of exactly how the engine cooling works and where all the water goes, it's great!
it's also posted in our member's tips section under the thread "look here first"

What @Bruce said...the pee holes are just visual indicators that water is flowing. I am surprised that the ride to the ramp and the cooling itself did not rattle/push them out. Were they tight in there, or just loose sitting in the hole?

Whew, Thanks everyone. No they were not jammed in and came out easily. That is why I use them because like Scott said the force of the water normally eject the tees out. I might check the tube back to to see if they are plugged.
