New Forum Feature!! Classified Ad Filters!

Today we spent a little time implementing a new feature in our Classifieds Forum. This feature is called "Thread Prefixes" and allows us to define some prefixes that posting members can chose from. These prefixes can then be used to filter the forum (by clicking on the prefix words). For example, if you are looking for a boat, then go to the Classified Forum and click on "Boat" in front of a boat post and it will filter the whole forum for Boats for sale (I have set the filter on the first 3 pages of posts-except for SOLD items or the occasional item that didn't fit one of the categories).

This filtering makes perfect sense for the classified section. We MAY also consider applying this to other forums, but first we'd like your feedback and thoughts on how it works.

If you have an older classified and want to add a Prefix, just open the thread and click "Thread Tools" in the upper right of the thread, and "Edit". Then just select the appropriate Prefix for your item. New posts will have the prefix drop down available too.

The forum prefix is a little loud when seen in the recent/new posts thread. Time will tell.

Other thoughts are to provide prefixes for the main forum like:

1. Maintenance
2. Winterizing
3. Sports
4. Stereo
5. etc

So ponder that and check out how the classified section works (click on a prefix and see how it filters). Kind of wish the filters worked in the New and Recent lists....will have to see if there is a mod to make that work.
