I'm not positive since I don't have your model boat but they look like the cooling spouts (often referred to a pee holes) on the starboard side of the 23' and 24' Yamaha jet boats. Basically, these are cooling water discharge points for the engines. If the engines are running, especially if the boat is in the water as opposed to on a hose, you should see water coming out of each spout which indicates that the cooling system is working properly for the corresponding engine.

@Ronnie is right. Once you put the boat in the water and throttle the engine, you should see water coming out of each of the holes. There is a hole for each engine. If you don't see water coming out and you are moving, you will want to check to see if your cooling system is clogged. I have never had that happen but when I was out this past weekend, there was a guy with an outboard jet engine that was clogged. He cleared it at the dock and went on to fish

Here is a great video on the cooling system of the MR-1.

At the :47 mark the intakes are identified. My understanding is that the pee holes will not always be peeing out water. At idle or no wake speeds the impellers do not create enough pressure to vent thru the pee holes. the cooling loop runs thru the system and branches out in 2 locations (5:15 mark). near the jets and these 2 ports.

Once at speeds the pressure is great enough that the pee holes will vent out the side and report back to you they are working.

Thank you for the responses, as I stated I am new to jet boats and I'm sure I will have more questions that to a seasoned "jetter" would be basic, I am just trying to gain knowledge so thanks for the help...

glad to have you onboard,
you have a two stroke engine, are you familar with two strokes?

You definitely have to be aware of the oil lines and replacing them or changing to pre-mix,

I don't know much about it so you will have to search or let someone else give you a link to it but don't ignore it, if you oil lines fall off (which happens quite often to the original setup you'll be rebuilding your engine.

Thanks for the info, this is my first 2 stroke, I bought it at the end of the season last year, I was thinking of going to premix, but I did some research and everything I have found says the yamaha injection system is extremely reliable, I will be having it inspected before we put it in the water this year. I will make sure to have the tech check the injection system.

The issue with the oil injection system is that the rubber hoses between the pump and the carbs have a habit of shrinking and falling off. I assume that it can also happen between the oil tank and the pump. From the factory the hoses are secured with cable ties. This has been an issue with all 1200 engined Yamaha boats and skis. When the hoses come loose the engine fails quickly and will cost thousands to replace.

You need to feel of all of the hoses and make sure they are flexible, not cracking and have some slack.

Island Racing http://www.islandracing.net/islandracingjb.html and others sell clamp kits to replace the cable ties.

On my 2005 LX210 I checked the hoses every couple of months and never had a problem. But I believe the hose material may have changed before it was built.

We are glad you found us as well.

The LX210 was the final version of the LS2000 line. It had the same hull with a swim deck added to the back and a few other upgrades. We had ours for a year and really enjoyed it. It is a fast, tight cornering and incredibly fun boat.

My two biggest concern with any 2 stroke yamaha are the oil lines and the clean out plugs. If your clean out plugs do not install and remove easily you can find info on how to rebuild them at Rebuilding Clean Out Plugs.

If you need to replace your oil lines it would be great if you could take pictures and write up the process.

I am planning to get it out of the garage in a couple if weeks and starting to get it ready, I live in northern illinois, so hopefully the weather will come around SOON. I will check them and post if they need replaced.

2x on everything @Bruce is telling you. You want to check the oil lines and if they have plastic zip ties to hold them in place, they need to be upgraded with the metal clamps and new hosing. Check and double check that you have slack on all of the oil lines (6 of them, 1 to each carb).

Clean out plugs - take them out after every use on the water and don't put them back in the hole until you go out again. Put some marine grease on the seals of the plugs and keep them clean. Also, tie them to something that floats in case you have a blow out. When you put them in, pull on them very hard to make sure that they are really sealed. If you don't have ez-locks/pins on the plugs, you will want to get these asap.

You will enjoy the boat unless you think you will do more touring and less sport/speeding.

Thanks, I did notice there was grease on the clean outs, and the previous owner had them connected to a mini fender bumper, I had heard if they were not secure they could pop out...I will be going over the boat soon, and I will have more questions, so thanks again for everyone's help...it gives a " NEWBIE" More confidence knowing I can come here for help..

Welcome. ..I also had an LX210 (a fancy LS2000). AWESOME BOAT.....lots of fun. As others have said, replace the oil lines and enjoy!

Also, when running on the hose make sure you only have the water on when the engines are on. Never run the hose on an engine that is off as it is possible for water to back up though the cooling system of a non running engine and enter the engine. Which would be bad.
