Hello everyone, just purchased a 242 Limited S a few months ago from my neighbor, and couldn't be happier with the boat. This is a great forum, lots of info from some very nice boaters.
As luck would have it, I unexpectedly received and accepted a new job in Orlando a few weeks ago. Good thing the boat has a trailer. We keep the boat in a slip at a marina in Minnesota and my wife wants to get the boat on the water ASAP when we get to Orlando (thats why I married her!). Any referrals for a marina would be greatly appreciated. We have 3 kids ages 6 to 11, and will probably live in the Lake Nona area.
Cheers, Thor

Congrats on the boat and glad you like it. What lake is that in your photo? Want to guess Gull, based on the high undeveloped shoreline and tower, and point on the left side, but not sure about the channel markers.

Good guess that is the Mississippi, around Lake Pepin. Nisswa area is a beautiful area, but my all time favorite is Burntside. We will be back for summer vacations!

Congrats on the boat and job! Guess this is "hi" and "goodbye" from MN then, good luck on the move south. Just try to not rub it in too much when you post boating pics from the middle of winter.

Welcome to the board and soon Florida!:Welcome:

Welcome @Thor and congrats on the new boat. Looks awesome.

Great looking Boat and welcome to the Forum! At least you'll be able to boat out of the year more in Florida.

I've only been in Orlando about a year, so I'm not super familiar, but I don't think there aren't many marinas (particularly on the north side). There is Lake Fairview Marina, but I wasn't impressed, especially with their wet slips (jet dock or floating). Most lakes are private and/or really small, so there isn't a business need. Seems like most access lakes through their HOA if located in a water front community.

Sappy, that was my impression after a number of google searches. I will miss having a slip, it is so easy to go out for a few hours.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

Welcome Thor I have my boat at vec

Thank you very much, I will check out Venetian Cove. Has anyone been to Boat Tree Marina? Seems like a strait run up 417 from where will likely be living.

Welcome aboard @Thor.

Hello and welcome! Congrats on the new job and a wife with good priorities! Look forward to more pics from you--boat looks sweet.

Why do you want a marina? I am from orlando.. Take it down to st pete /clearwater area.. thats the place to be.

@Thor
Welcome to Orlando Thor, I live on the westside of Orlando.
I just purchase a 242 limited S a few days ago. This is my 3rd boat.
I wouldnt pay for a marina in Orlando, I dry store my boat and trailer it. Covered storage in my area is about $150. A month
There are 3 popular hang out lakes in Orlando
Lake butler chain of lakes / my favorite in our area
Conway chains of lakes
Silver glen springs / is about 45 to an hour away, crystal clear springs

Like @john94si says St pete and clear water is a completely different animal of fun if you decide to do salt water.
By far the my favorite is St pete and Clearwater area which is about 1 1/2 from Orlando. Tons of little islands you can beach at, bars and restaurant you can pull up to with the boat, hotels with docks. You can go about 30 minutes south of Clearwater to Anna Marie island and feel like paradise.
The Gulf seems to be cleaner and clearer in my option than the Atlantic

Have Fun!

Yeah boat tree, that's off the St. John's river, I think you will get bored very quickly boating there.
I don't think there is any where there you can beach the boat and swim without seeing an alligator.... Ha!
