Has the quality of the seats and upholstery improved since 2013. My seats are starting to rip at the piping and I dont even use them that much. I love just about everything about my boat but what good is it if all the seats are trash in 5 to 7 years

The upholstery in my boat seems to be of pretty high quality. Can't forecast how it'll look in 5-7 years, but after a year it still looks brand new. I'm not particularly anal about cleaning it, either. If it looks dirty, I clean it. Otherwise I leave it be.

Is the boat covered 100% of the time when not in use? Leave they cover off a new boat and you'll be doing new vinyl in 2 years. I walked the docks last weekend and 1/4 of the boats had no cover. I was blown away people spend that much money on a boat and not spend 2 minutes to cover it.

Always covered with poles when off the water and at least draped while in the water. 90% of the time bimini is deployed when in the water

I have an '06 and my interior looks almost new. My boat is covered while being trailered and kept in a garage when stored. It is a thinner vinyl then our Sea Ray, but I think it's held up quite well considering it's not a high end boat.

X2 my 2005 vinyl is still in decent shape always covered and I use aerospace 303 . When heavy rain is coming I cover the yamaha mooring cover with a 12x25 grey tarp not a drip of water ever gets in. Bungy the tarp to the trailer

Keep in mind if you use a mold/mildew removal product it will affect the seat stitching unless rinsed off completely. Also sunlight has a detrimental effect on everything.

What exactly are you looking for in terms of response? The material on my boat is thick and supple, and I have no qualms about its longevity but obviously cannot predict the future. It stands up well to a hundred pound dog with considerable claws that tore the vinyl in several places on my searay. I'm pleased with it.

If the upholstery is a key point for you on a new yamaha, I'd definitely recommended getting a Limited or above.

Is your boat stored in a covered slip on the water or on the trailer in an open cement lot with just the cover on it? The factory cover is good, but eventually it'll allow more and more harmful UV rays pass through and degrade your boat's interior. Think of it this way, you can still get sunburned through a shirt, especially a thin/old one. Your boat and cover are the same story.

Best way to preserve your boat's interior is to store it in a temperature controlled garage, away from the sun's reach.

Our houseboat was stored in a 60' covered slip with 10' sticking out the back in the sunlight. There was a noticeable difference in even the fiberglass's sheen from the covered vs uncovered. Fabric skirts on the upper deck's railing was even worse off!

Lets keep the fan boy responses to a minimum. My boat is factory covered and is shaded from direct sun with tree cover on the south and west sides. Its backed in and the back of the boat where the failure is occurring is in the shade all the time. Quite frankly this is a material quality issue not a misuse issue. I knew I was not going to get Cobalt level appointments in a boat thats $50k less $$ but Im still disappointed with the quality. I see much older boats with zero interior failures. My friends 07 230 is always in the sun and the interior looks great.

I don't think they are fan boy responses. I think there isn't anyone that has the same issue as you, yet. My vinyl is in great condition, but I have to re staple the bottom of my captains chair.

My vinyl is in great condition but it's only 1.5 years old. The vinyl on my 09 232 was in great shape and it was 8-9 years old when I sold it. When I bought the 232, it had sat on dealers lots for 3+ years and the original cover was tattered and torn. I agree with others in that a lot of factors can contribute to deteriorating the vinyl...weather temp, sunlight, moisture, friendliness of your cleaner, type of use and other things all affect it.

I don't think the Yamaha's use an inferior quality of vinyl for the price point of the boats. I haven't heard of any widespread issues with it anyway.

I don't know if the quality has improved since 2013 but 2007-2009 it definitely took a nose dive with the grey diamond trim that disintegrates into a brown mess that falls apart,
