I am in law enforcement In the raleigh area. 90% of the wrecks we get called to when it snows are from people who are from up north and "know how to drive in snow"! and they make sure they tell me that many times as we wait for the wrecker to come pull them out of the ditch! Over and over again!

Are you on the Raleigh PD? Dunno if he's still there, but I used to work with a guy who made it onto the police department (Hubard, Hubbard?).

I'm pretty comfortable with my driving record, but I see plenty of guys driving exactly like the type of person you're describing. I get what you're saying.

This is awesome! If you like working up this way, you should get in with the development folks in Wanship and Coalville. Coalville proper will take a bit of time while Waholi development kicks up (they are still going through zoning/permitting process) but there are houses going up everywhere across the street from Rockport (where I live) and many of them are higher end developments (not 2+M $, though... typically 800K is the higher end for a new build). Lake views helps to insulate a premium value :).
Thanks! We don't typically do work that far away from our home base, just on a case by case basis. The majority of our work keeps in Utah County, however we do have one contractor that has us do a significant amount of work in Heber. I'm not saying I would be opposed. If they're is an opportunity there for us it is something to be considered. Thanks again!

Don't worry. They're doing this kind of thing in their hometown too. They're not saving it up just for you guys. :)

Funny thing about 4X4 is that it doesn't help you see any better or let you stop any quicker. You can't always tell that based on the way some folks drive though.

There is one incident that I witnessed that I'll never be able to explain: It was about 10 years ago. I was heading home from a business trip driving a small 4x4 SUV I had rented. The Freeway was an absolute disaster. The temperature was hovering around 29 Deg F and it was snowing like all get-out. The road was a combo of water, ice and snow. Salt trucks had been out, but they just couldn't keep up.

It was well after dark and everyone was in the right lane cruising along at about 30 mph - which at times felt like it might be a little too fast. The left lane appeared nearly impassible with only the occasional two-track from some foolish soul who attempted to venture over there. About 50% of those tracks led to a vehicle in a ditch with its hazard lights on.

In my mirror I saw two headlights coming up in the left lane. They were coming up pretty quick. My first thought was that it was someone in a 4x4 being stupid. As they got closer, the lights looked way too low to be a truck. Then I thought it must be a police car trying to get somewhere in a hurry - but he didn't have his emergency lights on. I was thinking "What the heck IS that?"

I cannot begin to articulate my disbelief when I I was passed - rather quickly - by a brand-spanking-new Corvette.

I kept expecting to find him in the ditch along side the road, but he must have made it to wherever he was going because there was no sign of him after he went by me.

Again - I can't explain it. I only know what I saw.

I happened to eat near a bass pro shop last night and saw this. Not my kind of boat so I was surprised by the cost. $4,500 ish which includes the trailer (valued at $1,200) but no motor or even oars. Effectively this is a raft when you buy it as is.

That's Bass Pro for ya, everything's overpriced by usually 20% Still love to go there, but usually just to window shop and then go home and find it on Amazon cheaper.

99% of the time I agree. Interestingly, the Bass Pro in Perrysburg Ohio has the carry ammo I use and it's a little cheaper than I can find it locally. (Which probably says more about my local places than it does about Bass Pro.....)

Shopped there for hunting gear after a house fire a few years back and that was FUN!!! Headed to the checkout with 2 heaping full carts of gear & stuff. Since then, I don't think I've spent $200 there.

Fleet Farm seems to be a great place to pick up ammo, is that where you shop?

Yup. I found Hornady Critical Defense in 9mm for a buck per box cheaper at Bass Pro Shop in Ohio. Might have been a sale or something but I thought it was odd.

The only reason I looked in Ohio was that for a while I couldn't seem to find that particular round in Wisconsin (it's all over the place now, must have been a backed-up pipe somewhere). My LC9S Pro likes that one the best out of the various self-defense ammo I've put through it.

I was looking at old posts of mine on Yamaha jet boaters and came across this one. It’s interesting to see how my perspective has changed over the years from Seadek is too expensive so I will make a custom kit from hydro turf to buying a seadek kit from jet boat pilot because I don’t have the time or motivation to make another kit myself.

Maybe I’m just imagining this but soon after Will commented I think jet boat pilot started offering kits in seadek and hydro turf, not just for the cockpit but also for the other areas of the boat and trailer that I covered in hydro turf.

This is what I was looking at (when I could pry my eyes from the road) the other day:

1576188769760.png

Not sure if terrified or relieved to have another person to share the driving duties.....

(Chris handled practice driving with the girls. They didn't like driving with me. John is just the opposite. Doesn't want to drive with Mom, feels much more comfortable with me. I dunno..... ???)

I mean, the High-School trusts him with fire and metal......

What could POSSIBLY go wrong???????

I still can't stand the oldest son's driving. He's a gawdawful driver, and he's 31. His brother is a year younger, and light years ahead of him when it comes to driving safely.

Reminds me of when my younger sister (by 2yrs) started driving with a permit, my mom would hold on to the passenger door for dear life and going around curves she would yell out "SLOW DOWN, YOUR GOING TO ROLL IT!!!!". Drove my sister to the point she wouldn't drive with mom anymore. She finally asked if I would ride along with her. I did and just calmly sat there and if she was doing something that needed corrected I would just tell her in a calm voice "maybe next time you should try ..." and since then shes been a great driver. Been doing the same thing with my 8yr old. Bri.jpgBiggest thing is to stay calm so the driver stays calm, the worst thing out there is a stressed out driver.

Time to be a proud daddy, my son is an awesome driver. Of course, I was directly and intimately involved. We started training him early. On the water first before moving to the land.the last shot I took as a joke, it was his first time driving on the freeway at age 15 before he got his permit. A few hundred miles later he was waking me as we got to our destination.
