@BlacklimitedS A good tinter will heat shrink the tint with a heat gun to form the tint to the curvature of the window. Never heard of having to heat the glass but I would assume this May be what he was talking about. If you look at rear car windows you will either se 1,2, or 3 seemed tint jobs. The guys that do it in one piece use the heat shrink method. I am getting line done and was told by my tinter friend that he hates boats but would do mine and took no technical issue with it.

@GiddYupJoe Looking forward to seeing your boat when it's finished. Thought about doing it last year but never got around to it.

Do you know what percent you will be going with?

@cbus I will likely go with 20%. I think 5% would look the best but I don't want to loose all visibility. 20 seems to be a nice compromise for me between look and functionality. Hopefully get it done when we drag the boat home this summer for our Norris trip.

Wow, nice job and price @ToddW850 !

Now, I have the depth charge question for everyone...

Why?

Ok, I get that it looks great. Grant you that. But does it make a functional difference? Perhaps it is just me but with blazing sun coming in from all directions, I can't see putting my sunglasses away or being any cooler for the tinting. So is this just a looks thing? Fine if so, because it does look great... Just more wondering if I am missing something.
I did it for looks, but I would do it again because of the amount of shade it provides.

Just dropped mine off this morning to get tinted, I had to take the tower off to get it in his shop...it was a lot easier than I expected it to be.
I'll post pics when I pick it up today, or tomorrow if it is raining today.

Okay, just finished this up this morning. Tinted my windows for a grand total of $26. Should of cost me $13 more but I had enough from tinting my Jeep soft top. Bought the Insta - cling stuff from Walmart. 5%. I failed to clean my windows really good before hand, so I'm gonna be redoing some of it. I'm kinda particular. But this stuff handled the curve of the front window very well.

@ToddW850 how is this holding up ?. you're at a good 1.5 months since install in the florida sun. No bubbles or shrinkage or ??.

the youtube video on this stuff made it sound too easy to be true.

Looking at the rides on this thread just made my mind on what to do first. Makes a huge difference in the looks.

It does look great but for me personally if I had to do it again I wouldn't. Depending on what shade you get can make the view for certain ppl not the best. But yeah it does look bad ass

Looks great @Wayloncle! And great price.

And to respond to @Craig @farrelltravis and @justason mine is holding up flawlessly with one exception. And I take responsibility for this exception. I think it had to do with a combination of my lack of cleaning the window good like I should have and the way I laid the tint (maybe too tight or the way I cut it). But the top of the curve of the window on the port side just would not stick too well. It would stick, but eventually start to come off slowly. However the curve on the starboard has been fine and no issue.

And I will add this, the tint was tough to cut, even with a sharp razor. Best to go slow.

I attached some pics. Thought I had more but I don't. But you can see the shade it provides in the pics with my kids driving.

@Wayloncle That looks really good. $120 is a heck of a deal!

@ToddW850 Those new pics look good too! Thanks for the update on how things are holding up. I am considering doing this. I used to own a sign and banner shop and the tint applies just like a vinyl sign does, so I am thinking my previous experience on making signs would help out with this project.

Are you all having the installers take out the windows to tint then putting back in? seems like this would give the best results and does not look to hard. I'm thinking about doing it myself, a few screws and the glass looks like it should come right out.

Also, knowing nothing about tinting - is the static type the best to use? or...?

Thoughts?

My windows stayed on the boat, if they were just flat pieces I would have removed them and done it myself but I didn't even want to attempt the curve, and with the price I got it was much cheaper to have the pro do it than for me to buy the tint and spend time doing it and probably redoing some that I would surely mess up. If it would have been over $225 I wouldn't have gotten mine done.

I would highly recommend not removing the glass from the frame. It would never be the same.
