Finally finished the storage room above the garage, at least for now (I will wire the room to code and install a mini-split sometime in the future). Project took a lot longer than I expected, as I started framing up the walls for the insulation back in November. Gave my wife a 24' long wall of storage space for her crafting supplies that do not fit in her craft room. As Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith (A-Team) would say, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Sitting out back “pool side” watching the sprinklers with the dogs. The avocado tree started budding this week. Stella on the patio, bandit on the couch. Installed a solar powered motion light in the woods so the deer can find their way out and to deter the boars from coming out.

We had a hurricane Ian projectile put a 3” hole in our lani screen. I replaced all four screens with the tighter mesh screen to keep out the no-see-ems. With help from my neighbor we knocked it out in about four hours. Good as new!

If I was to buy one today based purely on what I saw today it would be H22, Malibu VLX, and Moomba Craz.
The Heydays are interesting, one thing that gives me a bit of pause is how many ones you see pop-up for sale (new and used). Maybe for the used ones it is some of their initial year models that just aren't as good as the new ones, but it is an interesting price point if it produces the wake they say it does. Not sure I could ever get one with those bathtub seats in the back like some models...

I would never get one of those funky looking hulls with those seats. Even the sales guy said he wasn't a fan of those and that they were kind of gimmicky. It's similar to why you see so many nearly new Yamahas for sale. Although these put out legit tow boat waves and the yammies give you enough of a taste to get hooked and want more. I think people buy them, use them for a couple years, and want to move up to a nicer more expensive boat. They want surf tabs of some nature, or nicer features, or creature comforts like heated seats/power seats/power towers, etc.

Was actually really impressed with this. This dealer also sells Supreme boats as well and said the wave this put out was very nice and surfable stock. You can get a PCM engine for $2200 extra, but had the 6.2l mercruiser. They use ZF transmissions which is the same as nautiques. Those rear seats are nice. Interior looks super cheap in pictures but felt really nice in person. I went in expecting I would never buy a heyday. Now I'm not certain I wouldn't. When it gets warmer the owner said they need to take me out on the H22. As much as I wanna right now is not the time to hop into a $100k+ boat. If I was to buy one today based purely on what I saw today it would be H22, Malibu VLX, and Moomba Craz.

I like the “legal to ride in” back seats on those. And for 89k seems like a pretty good boat

Short game is the key to scoring my friend - drop 5-10 strokes off your score
Honestly, my short game isn't terrible. I hit a 5-Iron and down fairly OK. I putt decently, and can usually 2-putt a green once I'm on. My tee shots are almost always WAY right despite having a solid 250yd+ carry to them. Only had about 3-4 really "good" tee shots yesterday. One of those was a 6-iron I hit onto the green on #4.

I think I lost 6 balls yesterday. Which is probably the best round I've played ever. Most were lost off the tee, a few were lost into the woods on the right (It's always the damn right), and 2 went in the water :(

With my neck problems I'm likely going to be doing less Mt-Biking and more golfing. I'm considering getting some lessons and a club fitting. I'm playing with a $45 craiglist set of "Cougar" brand clubs now. At 6'2" tall, I'm right on the cusp of when you start looking at needing non-standard shaft lengths. Between never really having lessons, and having some cheap clubs I suspect there are more than a couple strokes to be found from those efforts (the lessons more than the equipment).

*EDIT*

Can you guys see this?!?!

Has a lot of info on the round.

I don't see where it's counting my penalties. Those were counted anytime I moved the ball more than a few inches, or lost the ball. I'm out there to have fun, so if I KNEW I had to hit through trees, or some other equally low chance of success I would pitch the ball a few feet to get around the obstacle. Again, more interested in having fun than being a rule follower :D :D

I play around 80 rounds a year. I live about 1 mile from the golf course, I have a golf cart I use when it's hot as balls, and have a motorized push cart I use when it's nice so I can walk 18. So I play A LOT.....Yet, the Golf Gods seem to hate me with a Vengeance. I mean, like the kind of vengeance Jules uses on the poor white dudes that stole Marsellius Wallace's briefcase. Golf Hates Me...... I mean, I pay my dues on time, I fill divots in the fairways by always filling mine plus one more, I repair ball marks on the green and any others I see, I take pride in raking my bunkers after I've destroyed them.....Yet the Golf Gods treat me like some kind of vagrant on a street corner holding a sign that says "Will Work for Food" but has a paper sack with a Busch Lite tall boy in his other hand. For instance this Sunday I shot a 41 on the front. I should have not looked at the Unknown Golfer app to see how I was doing in the game, and to my dismay I see I'm leading the net game and then I proceed to vomit all over myself on the back 9 with a 52.

With that being said, yes you need new gear. You need some mid level golf tech that will bring you back into the 21st Century, but don't break the bank. Yes, go get fitted. We have a place called Golf Tech around here a lot of guys use. Like others have said start with the short game and work backwards. Read Harvey Penick's "Little Red Book". I suck at hitting greens in regulation but I am a 6th degree black belt in chipping the ball, because I go up in the evenings with my air pods and some sweet Jazz music playing and will chip for over an hour. So a lot of times I will be on the green in 3 on a Par 4 and1 putt because I'm able to chip the ball within 4 feet most times. Throw away your laser range finder and use an app that shows front, middle, and back of green. Most times middle of the green is your best course of action.

By all means yes make the game fun, but when you really start playing and start carrying a USGA index, which you will need to play in any kind of betting game or tournament, then strict rules of golf will be the only way you will want to play. It's the only way I play now. When we have MGA tournaments you must putt out EVERYTHING. Even if it's a 6" tap in, you putt that shit out. I've watched guys yip 12" putts, and push the ball 4 feet by the hole, then miss the putt coming back. It's horrible. Butt it will get the juices flowing!!!

Got to hang out with the DFW Airport Fire and Rescue guys this morning. Watched the burn plane a couple times and then we walked through the smoke rescue simulation plane, which was an old md-80 that they fill with smoke and then lay 4 dummies in there for the guys to try and find.

I couldn’t find the correct string to place this under but did find this at harbor freight for about $13, Batteries not included. It turns on. I should know soon if this works and for how long.

Can’t see your garmin link. Lessons and fitted clubs are a huge help. I was a professional for 18 years in my prior career. Find a pro that you click with and keeps instruction very simple and straightforward. They should focus 99% on the fundamentals of grip, posture, alignment and balance. Great sport enjoy!

PS- never get fitted indoors! Only on a range. A good pro will evaluate true ball flight while considering your unique swing. Not to mention the turf is a factor in a good fitting

GRandparents used to have something very similar for transfering kerosene out of the 5gal jug and into the heater in their basement. Grandma wasn't strong enough to lift the jug, but could use this little transfer pump to keep the heater going during the day while grandad was at work. I can remember it as early as like 6-7yrs old, and last time I was over there I saw it sitting in the corner next to the heater. Best I can tell it's the same one. I'm 42 now!

Thanks for the tips.

Family has always been big into golf. I played a little before high school, but have never been good at it. I've always gravitated to slightly higher risk sports with a bit more action to them. Only in the last 4-5yrs have I seen the social benefits and had the patience to play a full round. Changing priorities from just me having fun to enjoying time with others is a big driver as well.

Big goal for this year is to play a round with my grandfather in October. He lives on Sawgrass in FL, and I want to be able to show up, play a round and not embarrass him or me with my absurdly bad shots. I don't care if I shoot 120, I just want to end the game with the same ball I started with, and keep it roughly near the hole I'm playing on. Beyond that, just playing a round with them is a win.........Check back in a few months to see if I'm gonna make it or not.
