My 2024 255XD Build/Mods

It's probably a non issue, but I don't like them mounted above the rails like that. I have mine mounted underneath the rails.
When I went to install mine the first time, I mounted them like you did, but it always seemed to me that if the current or wind pushes you just enough, the bow of your boat could get scratched on the end of the square tubing.

That did cross my mind, and I may regret the decision to top mount later.

Parts are trickling in, but I just haven’t had time to work on it any.

I did manage to get my registration decals on. I ordered color matching Marine Mat lettering from @JetBoatPilot . I think the color matches the interior almost perfect. They say the color is Toffee over Espresso, but the espresso is a little brown, it should be Toffee over Black. Since it’s not directly next to the interior I think it will be fine.

Still haven’t got to any performance stuff yet, but I pieced together some under seat storage for my dock lines. 6 pouches on the port side and 4 on starboard side. Pouches are just big enough for a 1/2” - 20ft line, but just barely. 10ft & 15ft 3/8” line fits great.

Excuse my language but, WTF Yamaha? The new 255x have soft ballast bags and not tanks. I need more pics. I need a engine compartment pic please.

About to walk out the door to go back to work, so I’ll get some pics tomorrow between jobs. But yes, soft bags again, 5 total instead of 3 like the 242X. 1 on each side of engine bay, 1 under each rear seat, and 1 in the ski locker.

Well, I got my blow off valves installed. Which were a complete pain in the A$$ to get on by the way. My port side oil catch can, gotta get a longer hose for the stbd side one. And I don’t know if I’m going to regret it or not, but I sacrificed my factory air box hoses to install some Worx 4” flame arrester filters. No going back now. Ran each engine on the hose and everything seems good to go. I’ll find out tomorrow on the water. There SVHO engines are so much louder than my 242X ever was, especially with no air box and the engine hatch open. I still need to remove the back half of the air box, but that’s a job for next week.

Spent some time on the water this afternoon. New filters did fine. Didn’t gain any rpms, still running 7800-7900 stbd and 7900-8000 port. But…… it does feel like they spool up a lot faster. Got lots of cavitation under heavy acceleration. Pump cones going in this week to fix the cavitation issue.

We got the wrong Intel on 2024 colors. We have since fixed this. Yours looks great though!

I think they look great too. Thanks! Love the look of color matched Marine Mat for decals. My wife notices the brown every time she looks at. It’ll take time but maybe she’ll get used to it eventually.

If she's not happy with them we can ship the correct color. Just bear in mind that getting them off is kind of a bear. Let me know what you'd like to do.

Installed my Lucky 13 pump cones tires afternoon. I managed to remove the factory cones and install them without removing the pump. I was just barely able get my hands inside the nozzle to work. At the suggestion of @jacoviii I started with the 5mm (red) washer on the port side and no washers on the starboard side. We’ll hopefully get a chance to see how they do on Sunday afternoon.

Still haven’t been able to get out and test the L13 cones yet. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day.

But….. the stereo stuff is all almost here. The last of it should be here on Monday.

Let the stereo mods begin!

Pump cones made a huge difference in acceleration while out today. I didn’t lose any RPMs on top end, but I still have a little cavitation under hard acceleration, so I’ll tweak my spacer/washer setup and try again.

Adjusted the spacers on my pump cones and got quite a bit less cavitation but still have some. I’ll add more before going out again.

Started on mocking up my new amps and wiring today. I think the layout should work. Got some adjusting to do before finishing it up.

what subs are you putting in? I don't think i have the guts to install my own audio upgrades!

I'm adding another Wet Sounds Revo 10 to match the one already in the boat. I'll probably add a 3rd this fall or next spring if 2 isn't enough.
