Boating "At elevation"...What's considered "high elevation"?!?!?

That sounds about right. On Tahoe (6225) I top out between 6200-6300 rpm.

    Multiple catfish in impellers

I like the idea of the catfish dance! Another idea may be to remove the kill switch and bump the starters a few times (I believe the engines will turn over but not start). I'd think that'd scare them out of their hidey hole.

    AR250 Range

Total distance on a tank of fuel can be a relative term and variable due to current, wind (going with or against for both), how much weight is in the boat (including people), and also elevation if on a lake). For example on Lake Tahoe, without even touching the throttles, if the wind changes on...

Fuel Question (Old Timers vs. The Manual)

I've run whatever is at the gas dock pump that's unleaded regular in 2 yamaha's for the past 10 seasons...as usually on the water there's not a choice. I do however add Stabil Marine to every tank. No problems. The NA engines I've had aren't picky and will drink what ya feed them...so long as...

    Connext Comms Warnings

I got an overheat alarm on my starboard engine a couple seasons back (running on the hose at the decon station). Once I got it into the lake, it would trip the audible alarm every 5 minutes. After much research I learned that it'll take 3-5 "trips" to clear that alarm (it'll still show an...

How to add water to ballast bags without engine running?

When I decon at Lake Tahoe, I coordinate with the team doing the work and use two hot water hoses on my boat (hey, they charge a higher fee because it has ballast bags so why not). Here's what I do: Stuff one of the hot water hoses up into the through-hull fitting on the bottom of the boat and...

    trailering

10 miles 2x per year I'd likely do it...and as others have said, keep is slow and easy. That, or if you're worried, rent a u-Haul truck for that short of a distance. It'd be hard to justify a bigger towing rig for that short of a distance.

    Dreaded anchor locker drainage question

You will want to fix the through hull fitting that's leaking at the bottom of the anchor locker as that's the only way for water that comes up on a wet line/anchor can drain out. Otherwise you'll be up to your elbows in there with a turkey baster getting the water out of the bottom of that...

Wet Slipping and what stays on

on my 2009 I made and solar panel holder and hard wired and fused a switch to the bilge pump. Using this method I was able to have the batteries turned off (and thus all electronics on the boat) while also still maintaining battery charge for the pump. Details are here...

    Mooring Cover Shortcuts?

Never use the anti-pooling poles when towing as they do create a lot of extra stress on the cover. I also use a sliced pool noodle (that is taped with blue painters tape) where the little bumper if on the center window. This also helps spread out that rub-area. I've been in stop-and-go...

    Oil Extractor at West Marine

I've used the West Marine pump for years and it's always worked flawlessly. I also like that each ring on it is approximately one quart...so I know if I have most of the oil. I even used that thing to extract the oil out of my Cayenne Diesel when I had it.

    Noticed a couple odd things today b4 1st trip out 2021 252X

Did the bilge pump come on, or just cycle? I know when I turn mine on initially, it will cycle...then cycles every 3-5 minutes after that.

Sotally Tober 5's Completed Build (Pic Heavy)

Very cool build ST! Great seeing all your additions and changes. Two quick questions & thoughts: Where'd ya get those iPhone holders? That's a neat idea. and you may want to take a moment to get some battery terminal covers for the additional batteries you installed under the bow seat. I...

Loose grab rail starboard bow Yamaha 252SE

Vibration rattles them loose. it's usually a lay down under the seat and reach up there to tighten. Long sleeve shirt is nice as that fiberglass Is itchy!

SeaDek Engine Bay mat - AR195

I did JBP Seadeck in my boat 4+seasons ago and it looks fine. I decided against doing the step-over spot as I figured it's just let people know it's a place to step. Leaving it off, and it still looks brand new...as people don't step there.

    2016 Ballast Pump Doesnt work

Not sure... Have you tried tried connecting it directly (fused to a battery) to see if it'll run that way? That way you may be able to determine if it's the pump or electronics? my 2017 has 3 pumps, have you looked to see if you can take out one of the others that's working and put it into...

Which Cover for Long Distance Travel

I commonly tow 4-6 hours and always use the towing cover. The shipping cover isn't built that well and when I got mine, it was already destroyed. Pool noodles over the window frames. I also don't lock the racket straps, but I do put some zip ties in them...that way I can tell if someone has...

Tesla truck / 1st time out with my new electric vehicle

Hey Ronnie....another idea for more range is to determine what Amps these things run at and then what 'other things' run-on the same amperage. I've had an Original Onewheel+ for ages that the stock battery was only good for 5-7 miles (new ones get up to 30 miles). The Online community for...

    Insight into Yamaha Dealer Allotment

When I made a deal on mine (2017), the dealer in Feb said there's the black one on the floor, and two more blue ones coming in for the year: one in March, and another in May. I put $ in on the one in May as I didn't want to pick the boat up until about then anyway. So at that time, they knew...
