Can someone refresh my memory... does the '14 242 Ltd S tower fold? How tall is that bad boy on the trailer? The big spreadsheet says 10' 8". Is that pretty close?
I enter that data right from Yamaha's site when the new models come out. That doesn't mean it is always right...but usually (as Yamaha has made publication errors on occasion)
Just watched a boattest video that mentions briefly that it folds, but looking at pics I don't quite have the vision, yet. Not a big deal, whatever I end up doing it would be nice if I could get it to 9' for storage, though. But, it isn't a deal breaker for me. Tks!!
I have a 2014 242 Limited S and yes that tower folds down. Look in my signature below you can see the tower. You remove the 2 back knobs and loosen the front knobs and it lays onto the windshield. I have never lowered mine though.
I have a 2014 and as @tocelli said, the tower does fold down. My boat came with two extenders about 18" long that you would connect to the base of the tower and to the connect point on the boat to keep the tower in place when folded. I would recommend against laying it on your windshield. My dealer said that you never want to tow with the tower folded down, that it could shake and crack the Fiberglas at the connect point. I thought I had the height documented somewhere but couldn't find it. The first year that i had my boat I stored it in a barn and had to fold the tower to be able to fit in. It was a pain putting it up and down all of the time.
Can someone post some close up pics of the mounting points of the tower that allow it to fold? I have a 2010, and am considering a mod to allow it to fold, because there is a low bridge nearby, that I get stuck behind at extreme high tide. Thanks!

@BlackandTan Thanks for the pics! definitely different than my 2010. Do those knobs ever come loose? Would be a bitch if you lost one. Does anyone have pics of the tower folded down?
Yes they come lose and they rattle. There are a number of posts on this issue. They don't always leave the factory tight or with the proper washers installed. I had to bring my to the dealer and they covered the rattle/washer insertion service under the YES Warranty.

I know that some have had problems with them coming loose, but I've been fortunate and have not. I check them every so often to make sure and they are always tight!
