Please help me take that decision , I have a very clean less than 50 hours 2018 AR240 for $50k and then now yesterday I just saw the new AR250 and it’s for $60,999 Don’t you think the new one would be a better option, and is the 2018 now expensive since the 2020 came out with a different stylin, please help.

Are we talking private sale for 2018? If so - it is more like a $16,000 difference with dealer crap added. If a net ten - then I'd go new.

Id find out the out the door price. And what comes with the used and add that to the new one and the ride steady. New is nice and all. But 11k buys a lot of thw upgrades you'll need/want.

I’ve been boat shopping for months. Like Wranglers and GTIs, 24’ Yamahas are a horrible used boat value. Now I don’t know if guys on boat trader are getting what they’re asking but if it’s close, new is the best option (imho)

With the new you're going to pay prep, freight, dealer fees and blah blah blah. I think the difference is going to be more than you think .

That 50K must be either his starting point, or boat sellers are really able to command much more than normal for their boats (it is all supply and demand). That boat's MSRP was 55K. Add taxes, prep destination it was probably 58K out the door. 10-12K off for 2 years old. Does it have an extended warranty?

No clue what @ourlee is talking about.....Yamahas hold their value pretty well, and lately most people have been complaining about how well they are holding their value!!! (as they try to find one and cant)

Your 2021 will be:
61K +2K+1.5K plus your taxes

Julian,, I’m agreeing with you. They hold their value so why not buy new? This makes them a terrible used value, cause they’re expensive.

im having a terrible time spelling your name lol. it’s an a, use the a :)

There are a few listed on the FaceBook forums. A 2019 AR240 is listed at $65K, and a 2018 AR240 is listed at $55K. It's crazy but people are interested. Seems these new 250s will not be here till the end of the year. With COVID people want our of the house now, not later.

Another consideration:

The 2018 you can get now (presumably); the new one you can put a deposit on and may see it in early 2023 at this rate (ok, a little exaggerated, but not much).

exactly, I was quoted $61.5k with a galvanized trailer on a ‘21 250 yesterday.

Yep! I want to sell my 2019 AR240 with tons of upgrades, but I know if I do I'll be without a boat for at least 6 months. I also know that I'd want the lounge seats and drive system so even if I got great money for my boat, I'm still spending another $35K. Just doesn't seem worth it when I now have my boat exactly the way I'd want it.

If you are a seller it is a great time to sell your boat. If you are a buyer, wait till the 25' footers start landing in dealerships or the winter boat shows. That will cool off the used 24' market no doubt. Which in turn could help with dealer/Yamaha incentives.

@Dodi5 $50k sounds a bit on the high end. How many hours and what upgrades are there? Does it include a mooring cover? Fins? Upgraded Stereo? Galvanized Trailer? Anything for watersports, wake board racks, etc. Post the full scenario including how many hours are on the engines, any issues with the boat and maintenance history if you can get it.

24 now, 25 next season. Depending on your immediate needs, an extra season of enjoyment should be factored in the value you are going to get.

@Dodi5 .....brand new 25 foot Yamaha with up-graded electronics and 2XSVHO engines.....are you kidding? It will be the most powerful and fastest production jet boat on the water.

LOL that's the issue with the AR250, no upgraded electronics and no SVHO engines.

I would try to get the 2018 for 45k-47k. Especially if it has a full cover, galvanized trailer and possible stereo up grade.

What he said.......the seller has to know the market has now changed on his boat since yesterday morning (outdated design now)).

IF you can wait until spring for delivery and get a dealer to sell at MSRP get the new one, unless the guy will come down to $45k-$47k (you can tell him there is not enough spread between him and the new design)....
