Hello all, I have a few questions regarding the 240. I am looking to buy in the next few months and I am trying to determine between a new 210 or a used 240. Anyways, can anyone tell me when the sound deadening and hinged seats were introduced on the 240? Also has anyone found the 240 to be too big? I like the idea of more power and having a bathroom on board, but feel the boat may be too big.

Pretty sure hinged seats & sound deadening arrived in the 240 series in 2015 along with the Articulating keel. They arrived in the 21' boats in 2017. They are not in the 19' boats yet (I'm hoping they make that change for 2018). Please @ me if I have that wrong as I just updated the "difference sheet" with this as a new column.

Never heard of anyone complaining about having too much room or storage! :)

But there is a sweet spot between the 21 and 24' boats....the 212X sure does drive nicely and balances performance for ride well - meaning you can cut and turn harder in a 212X than in the 240 series boats. But a 240 will take waves and wakes much better....there is always a trade off!

I never heard anyone on the water say I wish I bought the smaller boat. 2015 is when the hinged seats, sound deadening and conext arrived on the 24' boats, thats why I bought a 15!! As far as a used 240 look around for one that may still be under an extended warranty, the YES warrantys are usually transferable so that may give you some comfort.

I guess depending on what you pull the boat with is the only time you would think the 240 is to big well putting it under cover also. The 2015 does have the padding in engine compartment but it is not secured very well. I had to run some straps to keep it off the engines.

I took the nuts off the back of the bolts holding the seat padding on, and added some huge washers-the washers hold the sound deadening in place nicely!
I would have if I could easily see the nuts what size is the nut I will just dbl nut it.

Thanks for the info guys! I will be pulling with a Ram 1500 Hemi... I think my tow rating is in 8-9k range.

There is a post about the foam coming off. Just use the 3M spray adhesive and it never happens again.

Sounds like you have towing dialed in no matter what you choose. You won't regret the larger boat. It will feel "just right" in no time.

You have 238 questions remaining. Go ahead and ask. ;)

Since we are here - does anyone have width of the trailer? Another issue is finding room for it. Pretty sure I have room in the in the backyard... I know I do the for the 210, I measured the 210 at about 9 feet wide on the trailer.

Trailers are limited to 8'6" by law. But when you put on trailer guides....they get wider :)

@adrianp89 I just bought a 17' AR240 a few months back and pull it with my 06 dodge ram 1500 no problem. I was a little worried going to a 24' boat from my 19' i/o but when I put it in the water those worries went away. The only difference in the 24' length compared to the 21' is the bow area I believe. When your sitting at the helm you don't notice a difference. I sat in both the 21 and 24 at the dealer and their display was setup to have all the models in a line about a half inch apart with a raised walkway at the stern. Any questions on the 17' 240's let me know.

I am re-doing the fence so the opening will be two 6' gates... so really 11' is my max playing it safe. I would be plenty fine there.

I read on here something about chains popping on the 15 motors, is that a legitimate issue?
