My anchor locker is an area that has been taken for granted and has never really seen any TLC. My anchor lines were getting marginal, so with it being time to refurb my rigging, I also took a closer look in the locker beneath the foam kickboard that cushioned the anchors.
The glass work in there was sloppy to begin with. There is a big void in the glass by the bow hook and he lowest part had some glass strands making it rough. Worse was 13 years of power loading on a weak trailer design flexed enough to flake off the gelcoat inside. Here it is with the loose parts removed and the big void glassed in.
I sanded the compartment to rough it up and then painted it with Herculiner.
I bought an anti-fatigue mat at Lowes for $11 and after making a template with paper, cut to fit perfectly inside to provide cushioning for anchor impacts. The Herculiner is curing so I’ll need a photo of that installed later.
I also added new chain rode to my anchors, safety wired them and painted marks at 10’ intervals so you can easily tell how much line is out.
