I'm looking to pull the trigger on a 2016 SX/AR 192 in the next few weeks. I had all but signed the paperwork this week. I had considered a used one but found they were very difficult to find in a location I was willing to take the trip for.

This week I found this: http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2014-Yamaha-AR192-683140

The guy seems pretty honest and it appears as if he has taken a lot of pride in his boat. My wife is from OKC (which is one reason I have considered this one) and we can take a look at it on our next trip there. However, he has even offered to possibly deliver it to us down in Houston on his next trip down to see his friends.

He has mentioned having applied Dynamat insulation to a lot of the panels, flame retardant insulation foam in the engine compartment, window tint, boat cover, and some other extras.

My question is two fold:

1. Besides the tower design and SeaDeck design, what (if any) are the differences from a 2016 vs. this 2014?
2. I would have to eventually upgrade to a galv trailer for salt use here on the Gulf, but with a $10k difference in price over a new one, that seems like a small issue. Is this a good buy?

I appreciate your advice more than you guys know as this is my FIRST watercraft.

Other than the tower the only big change is the 16's have the articulating keel. Otherwise the hull, engine/pump are all the same from 2012 to 2016.

I haven't piloted anything with the articulating keel but I have had lots of time on my boat with and without thrust vectors. The Keel on the 16 wouldn't be a must have for me personally, as I kind of prefer finless, but I could see how it would be beneficial to a first time boat owner. That said, I would imagine you could get similar handling with either Cobra fins or Thrust Vectors added to the 13.

The price looks to be a little higher than average retail per Nada:

When you look at the original MSRP of $30,999 for a 2013, 25k might be a tad high, but with the options....might be ok (if the options are on the boat you are linking to)

But I'm also a little confused as you talk about an OK boat and the one you link to is in TX and looks to be being sold by a dealer and not a private owner....so perhaps I've mis-understood and you are talking about multiple boats?

Hey guys, Im sorry. I posted the incorrect link. I have updated it. It is a 2014...

Yeah, the owner has added some sort of vectors. I am unsure as to which ones, exactly. He is going to send me a list of everything this evening.

He has added Jetboatpilot thrust vectors, those plus the wakeboard rack, sound deadening dynamat and window tint are nice changes, for only 25K asking price seems like a reasonable price.

One other small change the newer boats have is a center cushion (backrest for a rear facing occupant) at the bow. Seems like a nice touch, but I have survived just fine without it. I have never had anybody actually sit in my boat like that, but It does give the boat a little more of a refined look.j

I have to say that seeing a 2016 192 at a recent boat show - it stopped me in my tracks. Can't think of all the little details that are different for the model/year, but my over all impression was - that boat looked just awesome. Had a very refined look and feel, I frankly did not expect and was not prepared for.

I personally wouldn't worry too much about their articulating keel, the one in the new 190/192 is just a part of a ride plate, I think, at least that is what they did with the FSH. I like the Cobras, TVs are fine, too. So - that would not be a big selling point for me for the 2016.

Now, my primary complain about my boat, from the get-go, has been the noise level. It is ridiculous. It can be alleviated with a lot of Dynamat Extreme and other sound deadening products, but that is both expensive and extremely time/labor consuming. I would say, if done right - it would be a very substantial point in my decision making process. Unless of course you just love doing things like that yourself.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I had heard they are loud as well. I drove a 2016 this past week and they were not that bad IMO at all. I'm not sure how much if any noise dampening they have added with the 2016 models...or if there is any difference at all. The one I drove didn't bother me at all.

That really makes me wonder... One of the things in my sound deadening project that made a difference was to line and pad all the panels in the helm dashboard, glove compartment, compartment door, etc. These surfaces used to vibrate and rattle. With the new 192 being as plush as I recall seeing it, I wouldn't be surprised if all the little refinements (from the factory) add up to a more quiet ride. This new model may also benefit from the new coupler to the main pump shaft that uses a different design.
I've never been inside riding a new 2016 192, so I have no way of commenting on it really. My comments above may, therefore, not really apply. But I can not imagine anyone calling a 2012 SX190 stock boat anything but quiet!

I pretty much love everything else about this boat.

Coming from the I/O world I can tell you these boats are anything but quite lol. Dont get me wrong it doesn't bother me but at speed I can not have a clear easy conversation with someone else in the boat as I can in my I/O. There are trade offs though I love the performance of my boat.

That seems like a pretty fair price for what you're getting there. I paid 25 for our 14' 190 but it also came with low hours, and a fully upgraded Rockford Fostgate system, covers, bumpers, jackets, 2 batteries, etc. All those extras add up fast plus they take time away from boating to install. Lets not forget about the tax and fees on new VS used.

Deal is done, guys! He drove it down from OKC (8hr drive) to deliver it. Even better than Amazon Prime! The boat was flawless. It is actually in better shape than I had expected. Was even able to load her into the garage with no issue. Only had to lower the mirror bracket and she went right in! Ill post photos in another thread. Thanks so much everyone for the advice. I cannot wait to get her out on the water this week!

That is awesome!
