My wife didn't like the bench and wanted a nice forward facing chair.....and you know who wins in that discussion! On all the boats, the chair spins and you can face it backwards. On ours it also reclines.

I took my co captains chair out recently and I must admit I love the openness. I may bight the bullet and buy the bench cushion and the brackets that hold the 'curtain rod' support for the bench. This way I can go back and forth. We most always have the seat turned 90 degrees and the person's feet just stick in the middle of the walkway.

I'm also turning the co captains seat into a table leg support.
