Hoping someone could help. I’m installing an extra amp and tower speakers. Im running 8 gauge power/ground wire from the helm to the house battery. I’d like it to connect to the house switch rather than direct to the battery. If the power wire is connecting to the house switch, where would the inline fuse go?

no more than a foot from the switch (on the way to the helm)

Thanks Julian, so the stock fuses from the battery to the switch are sufficient in this situation? Simply adding the inline fuse after the switch (within a foot) to the helm is enough? Thanks again

On this example, it looks like the inline fuse goes between the battery and switch. And no fuse between the switch to the amp:

It actually has fuses on both sides.

The white box on the right is a fuse panel (whole pile of fuses).
The Blue box looks to be a charger (that likely has its own onboard fuse or breaker).

Ahh thanks I didn’t know that was a fuse box. So I just traced the wiring from my house battery and you’re right, no fuse between the battery and house switch. The stock fuses are after the switch. I’ll place the inline after the switch and within a foot. I appreciate your help!

And the "foot" is just a guide....basically...that length of wire isn't protected....so the shorter you make it, the better.
