You will want to put it on a trickle charger over the winter. If you have a cheap one, many suggest you put it on a timer so it doesn't run all the time.

Get a better tender trickle charger. They are a bit pricy but work great. I have a single charger for my two batteries.

I have a solar charger that I move around on all my batteries.
They all come into the house or garage during the freeze. I also have a plug in one that is nicer and I use it to check that it is indeed charging, and to spot trouble batteries. It seems to do a better job topping them off as well.
I think as long as you bring them inside that is the main goal and the charger of some sort is very helpful after that.
I cycle my solar charger over 2 boat batteries, camper batteries, and 2 lawnmower batteries. Worked great last winter so hopefully will again!

Depending on what battery you have, look at the different models of BatteryMinder. They are great maintainers.
If you get this one it is switchable to all types of batteries. but is a little more expensive than one for a specific type of battery.
